A user by the name of Scorchio posted a thread on the PlayStation.com forums with some ideas on how to improve Firmware 3.0. I think this guys work is really good, and frankly, I think this is how Firmware 3.0 should have looked in the first place. Here are some concept images...

PS3 is such a weak console. We can ignore Uncharted 2, Killzone 2, MGS4, and the other games. PS3 is too weak to handle its own menu. You know, I can make a PSN id from playfire. And from viewing your old posts, your not a PS3 owner at all. :roll:

Anyone can photoshop something and make it pretty... the question is who's gonna write the code

Which has to be highly optimized and stable and compatible across all platform sku's and games?

Do you know how long this would take to load? I mean to even "compare trophies" it takes 3 hours just to sync. PSN is slow, and by the time I am done downloading everything (and you download a LOT in PSN), I am begging Sony to charge me $50 a year to improve their service.

It takes like 20 minutes for everything to load on PSN, the "Demo installing" stuff is annoying, you have to download everything, re-install everything... it's so long, complicated, pointless... seriously PSN makes me glad MS charges for Xbox Live.

Man that would be awesome if Sony made the XMB like that.

Not really. It takes too long that's for sure. Way too long. And then PSN is like install/download heaven. Seriously. Just to start Home you have to do 64 installs, download 40325042352395623495 rooms and so much more stuff it's embarrassing.

In some ways, I actually agree with AHUGECAT. I know that he is a huge lemming, and I'm not a fanboy at all, but it wouldn't bother me if Sony started charging the same as XBOX LIVE per year because it also takes me absolute ages to do simple things like compare trophies compared to the speed at which XBOX LIVE loads stuff like that.

Some of those people on playstation.com have come up with better designs than Sony
