That seriously is excellent news. I want PC gaming to continue. :D
It worried me for the longest time seeing the huge decline in PC gaming.
Awesome :)
This just goes to show that Crytek chose to abandon PC exclusitivity to make extra profits, and not that their current profits were so bad that they need to release games on consoles as well. It was just an act of "I already haave loads of money, but gimme more!".
It would have sold twice that if they had made a slightly worse version on 360 with easier to use sandbox.familycircusfan
Against Halo 3, Mass Effect, Bioshock and Call of Duty 4? As if... If anything, it wouldn't have done as well.
You talk as if 3 million is nothing. The amount of games that reach that milestone is actually quite small.
[QUOTE="AAllxxjjnn"]Nice to see, too bad that game became a total bore-fest after the Alien ship level.dgsag
But the rest was pure, pure gold. :)
I enjoyed the zero-gravity areas. Plus, grabbing an alien by the throat and punching their faces in is just plain awesome :) Nomad is such as bad boy! :D

i agree. from there, the game felt a lot more linear than before. it was more fun fighting the North Koreans with all those tanks and helicopters coming at you
Pirates probs can't be bothered to d/l 12 gigs
But seriously, that's great for a game with such demands from a PC.
Sells 3 million copies but gets downloaded 400 million times.Ilived
I'm sure those 400 million are different people and that if a pirated version didn't exist then they would of went out and purchased the game. /shrug
I would like to see a game break the 400m mark in sales.

Zero gravity was a lot of fun. Mainly i just go back to the beginning levels and play those over and over and over again.

On the X360, there's 5 games above that mark. Gears of War, Halo 3, Grand Theft Auto IV, Forza 2 and Call of Duty 4.
On the PS3, there's 3 games above that mark. Call of Duty 4, Motorstorm, Grand Theft Auto IV. Gran Turismo 5: Prologue was at 2.26 million at last count, maybe 3 million eventually as it's still in the charts in alot of places. Probably not though.
On the Wii, there's 7 games above that mark. Super Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Mario Party 8, Mario Kart Wii, Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, Mario and Sonic at the Olympics and Wii Fit.
Not counting Wii Play and Wii Sports on the Wii, btw. If so there's 9.
lets put this in perspective here. For most games 3 million would be great, but for a game as high budget as crysis its nothing to write home about. There were probably around a million pirates of this game, so its not like this is gonna convince crytek to go back to PC exclusivity.familycircusfan
Actually...Crysis wasn't really that high budget, just hard work for their team. They did use their own engine afterall! They broke even before 1 million.

PC ram and console ram aren't exactly alike. otherwise, games like Assassin's Creed and GTAIV would run piss poor with their open worlds and all. they're not without issues, but they work fine.
DEAD?? Who said it was dead? Its alive as you and me.lancea34
Maybe you, but not me. I am actually a corpse summoned back to life by a dark order of evil doers in the hopes of creating an unstoppable army.
This sale can't be compared to GTA IV... (don't get me wrong i bought Crysis too)According to the latest issue of PC Gamer UK, Crysis has sold a whopping 3 million copies in half a year. I don't think I'm allowed to post scans, but I'm sure some of my fellow hermits can confirm this.
Also, Crysis Warhead is apparently going to be revealed in next month's issue... :D
BUT TEH PC GAMING IZ DYING!!??!?!?!

Word of advice, don't speak about things you have no knowledge about. For those who don't know. PC and Console RAM perform the exact same function. There is no different aside from the its type i.e ddr2 ddr3 and its speed.

The average high budget game needs at least 500k to warrent a sequel. Just that in SW, they sort of belittle that number for their petty arguments. 3 million for any game is an appaling success.
Also, Crysis in general was built around cryengine 2. Just like UE3, Crytek most likely put more time and money making the engine to license, then actually building the game. I doubt the actual game cost any more than PS3's current high budget games.

GTA4 has a bigger brandname, more advertising, and there were like 15-20 million PS2 owners of San Andreas. Crysis on the other hand had poor advertising, needed a massive gaming rig and the brandname is loosely based on FarCry... its not a fair comaprison.

Unstoppable army of what? Zombies... I'll just have to call the UBCS (Umbrella Biohazard Countermeasure Service)

GTA has nearly a doezen games before it to build up hype and anticipation... Crysis had one?
How many developers have their second game sell over 3 million units? Not even Bungie, Epic, or Lucasarts did.
[QUOTE="Fignewton50"]Wow, impressive. What is Crysis Warhead? An expansion?thrones
Probably like the Half Life 2 episodes.
Perhaps with 3 million sales, they may reconsider not being a PC Exclusive developer?
That was my first reaction. These guys were whining about piracy, but there game is making them hundreds of millions of dollars despite that.
Good! They would have had better luck if they released Crysis as a benchmark utility rather than a video game.Pro_wrestler
since when do more than 3 million people want to spend lots of money for one of those?
