I have PCG UK July issua in front of me so can you please point me to the page that says Crysis has become the fastest selling PC game in recent times? You can't since you made this story up which I find to be very strange.
It's not true. Over at PCG UK's site, everyone with the new issue can't find it. 18 pages only to find out this was all pointless...

I saw that post which lead me to this site where I think the rumour probably started. I am wondering where the TC got the story from or did he just decide to make it up? The way he phrases it you would think he actually read the mag. The topic creator should clarify.
type that in google and tell me what you see.legol1Your sarcasm detector is broken :|
And what are you comparing those types of advertisements to. TV ads? Television ad revenue is dropping so fast it's not even funny. We get hundreds of channels with no reason to watch ads whatsoever. Internet advertising is possibly the biggest source of revenue nowadays. So saying "only" internet advertising means nothing really. Especially since the game is aimed at people that quite possibly spend 2/3 of their day on the computer.FrozenLiquid..........So?
Internet Advertising expenses may be great, but advertising across such a broad spectrum is silly to compare. And TV Ad spots also cost a huge amount regardless - i know first hand.
Yes the game is advertised towards its target market........
whooaaaa most impressive, 3 million whooosh who could have thought a game would sell that much on a system that has sold just only above 30 gazillions

and what ps3 games has broken 3 mil in 6 months? probably the multiplat of cod4 and thats about it

You don't get it do you? Even if Crysis sold 30 million copies, PC gaming would still be dying.
The amount of shelf space devoted to PC games at retail outlets has shrumk drastically over the last 5 years. Ever wonder why?
Here's a clue: it is not because PC gaming is flourishing.
If you are playing a PC game, chances are it is either a FPS, RTS, MMO, or the SIMS. The variety of games available on the PC is very lacking right now compared to years past. That variety is available on the consoles.
Fanboys talk about sales. Real gamers care about games.
I don't care how many copies a game sells. I only care about how many games (recent and future) on a platform I want to play.
3 million, I'm impressed. I would've never thought, since this games graphic specifications are tremendously high at the time of release - and even now. PC gaming will never die, and the excuse of pirates is a ridiculous thing for the developers use to find a way to tell PC owners, that we want more money so we are going to be porting or god knows what to the consoles as well.
This brings me to another point, Crytek just announced it would not be supporting Crysis or releasing the 1.3 patch, which is lame. You want to know their reason, because of piracy, GIVE ME A BREAK. We all know (the gaming community) the reason it is not selling so well is because of the high specifications for the game, and that, lets face it, it is just a fancy graphical game. It offers nothing new, and just offers a bit of free roam and awesome graphics, the AI sometimes can be stupid and there are glitches/bugs that are never fixed. If this game offered something new to the table maybe it would've scored better*.
*Not counting Game$pot.
You don't get it do you?

Internet? You know... online shops for example
Here's a clue: it is not because PC gaming is flourishing.l0053
It's growing double digits each year revenue-wise, so even if it's not flourishing it's still doing very good, better than ever in fact
. The variety of games available on the PC is very lacking right now compared to years past.l0053
There's far more variety in PCgaming right now than couple years ago
.That variety is available on the consoles.l0053
What variety? Console gaming has almost completely lost variety. Everything is put into one rehash after another.
.I only care about how many games (recent and future) on a platform I want to play.
l0053
Sure, I also care only about games. WHich is why I'm a PCgamer, as currently consoles don't offer anythingI would like to play

yes, retail. where everyone always buys games from.
So has this been proven true or false yet?Meu2k7
This is false. There is no such thing in PCG UK and if Crysis sold 3 million there would have been an official announcement. The only way Crysis would sell 3 million is if they bundled it with the next WoW expansion.

Taiko88
The reason they aren't making Crysis patch 1.3 is because they want to devote all their resources to the PC EXCLUSIVE Crysis Warhead.
They never said anything about piracy.
And them announcing Crysis Warhead as a PC Exclusive just proves that EVERYONE took that one statement way out of context.

lol yeah I noticed that too.I guess when Crtytek release the Warhead details they may also mention the sales.
Why else would they release an expansion/sequal for a poor selling game...

yeah, that's what I'm thinking too. I think the sales are great, just not 3 million great. Either way, can't wait for Warhead, I'm happy we get yet another killer game to push out rigs with, and another reason for GPU's to get even better and cheaper

PC gaming dwarfs any console. It brings in more money and has more gamers.
PC gamers have made the move to downloading their games from services like steam and D2D. How on earth you don't know this is beyond me.
PC has 10 times the variety of consoles, this isn't even debatable and I can't believe you are trying to say otherwise.
You want to talk about games? PC has more exclusives and more highly rated titles.
Please, in the future, actually aquire knowledge about a topic before you post about it, it will save you lots of embarassment.

Yeah I don't get this.. People don't understand that the downloading industry like direct2drive, Gamestop now, and Steam are widely successful.. Steam has something like 16 million accounts, Direct2drive has been widely successful.. AND GAMESTOP/EB Games have their own huge download service.

Now name 15-20 other PC game's that came out in 07'/08' that sold over a million like consoles did.
I love PC gaming and i'm gonna get a new one this fall, but it's really a lame argument to use 1 game that sold a lot.

Because consoleites dont use that, i mean they do have a marketplace but not like steam with full games and such..they need to know that the average PC gamer has moved WAY beyond disks now..im sure that 90% of PC gamers this day and age has downloaded at least 1 game from D2D,Steam, Impulse, GS and EBs DL service..Disks IMO Are just old and DD right now is booming for Steam and the like..
[QUOTE="dgsag"][QUOTE="usmcjdk6"][QUOTE="usmcjdk6"][QUOTE="Hewkii"][QUOTE="usmcjdk6"]I'm not actually trying to bash hermits here, believe it or not. I'm not even bashing Crysis. But there is not one inkling of PROOF this game has sold 3 million outside of what EA has said. What PC dev would cri moar and say "to hell with PC exclusivity" if their game sold 3 million in 8 months?
usmcjdk6
the logical solution, then, is to provide sales data that shows it to be wrong. can you provide this?
Sure.
http://ve3d.ign.com/articles/news/archive
Look at the archives and backtrack all the way to Launch if you want to. Crysis has never, EVER surpassed Call of Duty 4 in weekly sales, despite having a one month later release launch, and it being outsold by 4x1.
The proof is in the pudding.
Bush lies, troops die.
EA lies, hermits eat up their crap and say it's rocky road ice cream.
And let's add into the fact that according to http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/50939
PC games amount for a shocking 14% of gaming software revenue. There is simply no way that lower tier Top 10 PC game sold 3 million in 8 months.
All the facts point to EA LYING.
THESE ARE USA NUMBERS.
PC GAMING DOMINATES EUROPE. CRYSIS WAS BEST-SELLER IN GERMANY FOR MONTHS.
Thank you. :)
Oh, what's that?
Do I see some  ?
Why yes, I think I do. Bush Lies, Troops die. EA lies, hermits eat their crap and make it sound like rocky road ice cream.

Wait, so you revived a 2 month-old topic to insult someone about something that's true? Epic fail.
USMCJDK6 has owned all the hermits at the revelation that Crysis has only sold 1.5 million copies, compared to this thread which was published about 2 1/2 months ago which states Crysis sold 3 million copies.
I expect to hear something about DD now. I've a) proved EA spouted B.S., b) proved DD sales account for about 17% of sales and c) made every hermit in here look stupid.
For such a game, what with it's System Requirements..that is darn impressive!thrones
At the time of launch not many people had the recommended system requirements to run Crysis. Six-eight months later as price for an intel Q6600, 2 gigs of memory and a 8800 GTX video card become cheaper, people started to buy or build new PCs. Then they decided to go for Crysis.

1.5 is still impressive.., and DD ownes about anything consoles could produce..Steam most likely yielded more profit than XBL and PSN combined..
and again 1.5 is fine for a game like crysis..but then again if a game doesn't sell 8 bajillion dollarz!!!! it sucks right?
