PS3 getting price drop in April, 360 getting one in June.

Not offical, but reportedly, the 80GB PS3 is going to be dropped to $299 in April, and the 60GB 360 will be dropped to $249 in June.

If this happens, who will this help more? Sony's $100 price cut should definitely attract lots more sales, while the 360 will still do good too.

Thoughts?

Who would it help? Consumers.

Just for the sake of giving a console the edge...I'll stick with the 360. In my opinion the current economy problem in america will create a "smarter" consumer...and the smarter consumer will get a 360. Thats my opinion.

just a couple months ago the PS 3 was outselling the 360 continously when the PS 3 lowered it's price(btw it was still more expensive than the xbox)the xbox had no choice but to lower it's price to $199 last gen prices.

It would be really dumb of sony to drop the price and lose even more money on every system sold. Even with the 35% reduction in production costs, they are still losing $50usd per console, why would they want to triple the losses on every one?? Just to please fanboys that already HAVE a PS3?? Doesnt make much sense to me, and if i were an investor, id be worried about my clients wanting to sell their stock, sony should be too. navyguy21

A price drop at this point would be putting a nail in their own coffin, i dont think the investors and shareholders would like that too much.

I would work at Microsoft over Sony any day because Microsoft's gaming division is actually earning a profit. If Sony goes through with such a price drop, they certainly won't be making very much profit.
