PS3 graphics vs PC final take

So here we go at it again.

Cows are now restless with joy over UC2 coming out, just like bursting children the day before christmas. This is fine and all indeed. I have no problem with that, on the contrary. UC2 looks like a game that can please the masses. I have no problem either with reviewers giving this game 9.5 and above.

The thing about games is that it's all about personal preferences, where NO ONE can be wrong. I for instance, I wouldn't be a good candidate to review UC2 for the reason that I feel that the game would not receive a fair score. It is a game that doesn't cater to me. Cows are eager to rush in here almost dictating that we all should think the same and put UC2 on a pedistal. It does NOT work that way. It's almost like you are trying to spread a religion.

You are not content in just playing your games and be happy, no. You just have to repeatedly try and brainwash us other "non-believers" with the gospel of Sony.

I feel that many cows in here are so blind and fooled by the holy-words and promises from sony that there seems to be no logic anymore. Sony are the masters of deception this time around it seems. Showing off so called in-game sequences based on in-engine graphics sometimes even CGI. It wouldn't even surprise me if the pollygon count mentioned in another thread for the UC2 main-character is during in-engine sequences only.

On countless occasions Cows come in here trying to convince themselves and others what sony and sony-developers teach them. But my personal favorite is the one where somehow in this bent reality of theirs UC2 has better graphics than Crysis.

How can this be possible? In our universe, we are limited by the laws of physics, those DO apply. There are things like gravity preventing us to just float away. If you are able to follow me this far you've done well.

Let's now say you have two stones one that weights 1 kg (roughly 2 pounds) and one that weights 10 kg (well, 20 pounds), which one do think is heavier?
Remember now this is in the real world, not in a crazy game-world where physics can be inverted and fat chicks weigh less than slim chicks.
Anyone with the intelectual capacity of a donkey and above would know that the 10 kg stone is heavier, right??

If Crysis demands hardware 10 times the power (ultra-high, 1680 x 1050, 4 AA) of the PS3, how on earth and on Jupiter can it ever be possible for UC2
to have better graphics? Some of you claim that you have played crysis and it looked like crap. Let me tell you this, if you have played Crysis with the setting I posted above you would know for damn sure that compared to Crysis, UC2 still looks like PS2 material.

It's not just Crysis anyway, it's just nice pick because it's in a genre PS3 also has and has in good quality. There are many other PC games that are beyond what PS3 could display, not just Crysis, they're just not from FPS/RPG genres

I don't see how UC2 looks better then ARMA 2, WIC, Company of Heroes, Supreme commander, or stalker...

I don't know why anyone would compare them anyway. Most of the high-end games on PC look better than Uncharted 2 (ArmAII eats it alive and ****s all over it; not to mention STALKER, WiC, etc.). It certainly looks better than some PC games though.

First off, a few cows going wild doesn't equal all. Second, we all already know that Crysis > Uncharted 2. Third, Sony hasn't done anything wrong. They are just marketing their game. What did you expect, Sony to zoom in on their the low res graphical parts and shot that? It's the fault of the, once again, few cows that hype the graphics up to heaven. We don't need yet another self-righteous person trying to right the wrongs of all the evil cows in his way.

Ok, Uncharted 2 is great in animation and graphics, graphics as in super sharp texture, awesome atmosphere and lighting, people should realise that Uncharted 2 is not trying to be realistic, but trying to look perfect and smooth. If we compare game's graphics to real life, Crysis will definately win.

Uggh, seriously, not this again. Look PC is not a console, its not even a real gaming platform. PC is an embodiment of current computing technology, console will never catch up so whats the point in comparing them. Its like comparing a block to a lego, one can keep growing the other one can't. Good god you're clueless. Just because its functionality isn't limited to gaming doesn't mean it isn't a gaming platform. The PC being vastly superior in functionality doesn't change the fact that it IS a fully functional gaming platform (more functional than consoles for gaming, in many aspects) with a library far larger than any other platform.

What you're claiming is akin to saying that the 360 or PS3 aren't gaming platforms simply because gaming isn't the only thing they can do (remember that they're marketed as media center devices as well.) As we move to new console generations, I'm sure that line between PC and console will blur even more. Even then, will you maintain that the PC isn't a gaming platform, and consoles are? I somehow doubt it.

Hermits played, enjoyed and got over Crysis two years ago.

The majority of threads obssessing over Crysis nowdays are posted by Cows and Lemmings comparing it to their latest exclusives.

:lol: Pretty much all console screenshots we ever see in SW are bullshots, in the rare occasion that somebody posts proper direct feed gameplay people start calling them fakes and claiming "it looks better on my tv". Yeah there are some unrealistic crysis pics floating around too, but majority of screenies posted these days are taken by people themself, it's not that demanding anymore.ManicAce

What bothers me is allot of these console games that support screenshot taking apparently generate bullshots in the process.

I forget which game but I heard there are ones that render the image at ridiculous resolutions; and then downscale it to hide all jaggies. It seems bullshots prior to release aren't enough, people have to be lied to when they have the actual game as well.

Direct feed shots taken through means outside of the game seem to be the only reliable source.

its pretty disapointing to see a game (crysis) which requires so much power to run doesnt even look that good while a game (UC2) running on a 4 year old hardware just looks damn hawt. i was expecting crysis to look so good that it would make console games look mega last gen but i was wrong as crysis didnt even LOOK that much better then console games.

I'm european, I can compare them to these football ( soccer ) supporters who root for their team and if they lose then they are angry/sad until the next match.

UC2 is linear,it looks cartoony,it doesn't have that much going on screen,animations and textures alone don't make graphics, stop comparing it to crysis.Tessellation

lol art direction wise UC2 is better than crysis mainly due to what you call its cartoony graphics....the game aint striving to look uber realistic the whole reason uc2 has the graphics charm it does imo is down to its art direction it feels like one of those old adventure comics in a way.

UC2 looks like a painting, it relies on art style rather than reality, so it's "easier" to make.

I dont get all these PS3 vs PC graphics threads. Yes, Uncharted2 looks amazing but can only be compared to other console games. It looks a bit better than some other games on consoles and ALOT worse than some PC games.

There is no need to compare Uncharted 2 graphics with PC games because they are not on the same platform, I mean the PC has limitless power and upgrades while PS3 is a fixed machine. With all that said, U2 is one of the most beautiful games regardless of the system it is on and I know that because I have played the game, not because I've seen some trailer or played a beta ;)

the truth is that there are a lot of really good lookin ps3 games. i have a 360 and think that the ps3 exclusives look better on the whole.

but i also have a pc with a gtx 295 and with absolutely no bias because i have absolutely no interest in these stupid one-up-manship graphics comparison games in system wars (i play for the fun of playing games not to argue over ridiculous things like polygon counts and such like) the difference between a top end pc and consoles technically is pretty damn huge, in some cases (halo odst vs warhead, for example) its downright embarrassing.

PC gamers have no reason to attack every console graphics king that comes by, however Cows feel the need to compare each and every shiny new title to Crysis. Retaliation is inevitable, don't pretend PC gamers are equally guilty to these power of Cell hype victims looking for a justification for paying PS3s launch price.
