Seriously with the PS3's akward controler for FPS games, it fails hard in competiton with the 360 pad. I understand that UT3 has adopted the KB/M for it's gameplay. Sony's and other developers need to utilize this for the PS3 because their joysticks are shameful. With that said, if you prefer the PS3 pad to the 360 pad (for FPS) you must have an akward grip.

UT3 for Ps3 has always had KB/M support. I don't know if what you said was towards 360 or Ps3.

And I have no problem at all with the DS3, maybe because I've used it for so many years now.

I play COD4 all the time and have no problem with the controller.

Only problem I have with the DS3 is it doesnt seem as durable as the DS2 did.

I HATE those back triggers on the DS3 ... HATE THEM I TELL YOU.

Sorry for shouting but it is simply the worst design ever. Whoever thought that curving the triggers away from your fingers instead of towards was going to be a good idea needs to be lined up and shot. I have big hands and quite a heavy touch so trying to play Warhawk with my fingers crab clawed and slipping off the back buttons is a lesson in pure frustration. The problem simply doesn't exist for me on the 360 pad.

I do just fine when playing UT3 or Oblivion on my PS3. When I played through FEAR and other FPS games its the same way, I do just fine.

I can play on both controllers just fine. No difference in accuracy whatsoever. Don't know what your problem is, maybe its your hands that are warped.

Prefer the DS3 though. Its face buttons are analog which helps me with racing games since I don't use triggers for that. The d-pad is just better too and i prefer the symetrical placement of the sticks.

360 definitely has a better controller for FPS, but the Dualshock works fine. I honestly don't pay much attention to controllers. The only way I'll pay the controller much mind is if the developers of a game mapped the controls in a retarted way.

Agreed. We've had firearms for the better part of a thousand years, and yet I can't recall any with a convex trigger. You'd think Sony did it just to be different.

I agree. The analogue sticks are terribly placed, the sticks dont feel sensitive enough and the conclave tops lead to your thumbs slipping in heated situations.

Y'see, things like that really annoy me, I have been playing with the Dualshock series since the age of 4, and they are FINE, only when the 360 came out did people start to feel the need to complain about the DSs design.

The reason it's always stayed the same, is because it works, and I don't know anyone who has wished for a change.

no offense but you dont know many people then. The DS always gave me hand cramps it was so awkward to use. It clearly wasnt ergonomically designed and probably the only reason so many people stuck with it was because the PS2 was so popular.

Its been known that 360s' controller is more suited for FPS. Both controllers have their ups and downs.

funny, i didn't play FPS's on ps1/ps2 because they were all medicore at best in comparison to PC/xbox. The DS is a very nice controller, just not for FPS is what i'm saying. It excells pretty much in every other genre.

You'd be surprised how many people I talk to on a weekly basis, but anyway, I guess it's down to opinion on whether or not it's comfortable, but the fact is it isn't a badly designed controller, as a lot of people make it out to be.

I think it is a great control for every kind of games, and that includes FPS. Resistance or CoD4, for example. No problem there.

I fond it fine. I personally have no preference with controllers. the 360 and ps3 controllers are both good. The one thing I like about the ps3's controller though is that its very light.

I hold the controller with one finger on each back button.it's a habit I picked up while playing Halo with my friends where I would alternate fingers to pull the trigger and then I realised that my middle finger reacts faster than my index finger sso I adapted to using my middle finger to pull the trigger.

So apart from the size, the triggers, the placement of sticks and the overall design there is no difference....

The DS was not designed for manly hands I tell ya ;).

AFter using the ps3 pad for over 10 years now anything else feels wierd. BUT a true gamer adapts to the pad.
That said, the 360 stick is a bit too loose to realy get good handeling.

what i meant is that both have 4 triggers on the back, 4 face bottons on the right and a right analogue stick, which leaves the only difference of having the d-pad and left analogue places inversed... so yes i say both controllers are pretty much the same..

I think you're correct for the most part, the controllers are more alike than they are different.

That said, a few key differences makes each better suited for certain kind of games. The Xbox 360 controller is better for shooters because of the analog placement and the triggers, whereas the Dualshock is better for fighting games because of a vastly superior D-Pad.

The 360 controller is probably better for racing games too, because of the triggers. The Sixaxis (don't know about the Dualshock 3) has awful triggers.

well i found the DS3 comfortable with racers (GT5P, Motorstorm, NFS, Burnout, Sega Rally), however thats just me, someone might prefare a different controller...

As regards FPS it comes down to personal preference or else which design they are more accustomed to.. those who probably like myself had a Ps1 & Ps2 will tell you they find DS3 perfect for FPS titles because they've been playing games on the same design for nearly 10 yrs..

I know there are slight differences in the 360 & PS3 controllers but its nothing major... if we were discussing Wii controller against DS3 of 360 controller it would have been a different story...

People that try to argue that the 360 or the PS3 controller is significantly better then the other are morons. The controllers are nearly the same! With that said there are a few differences, I like the overall shape of the 360 controller as well as the rear shoulder buttons better. On the PS3 controller I like the d-pad and the feel of the face buttons better. However these differences are very minor and coming from someone who used to own a 360 and now owns a PS3 I have never once during a game thought to myself that I wish I had the other systems controls.

What are u on about? U do know the ps2 was one of the best controllers ever made? It may not be the best now but it still is an awesome controller for anyone who has been so use to using it since the psx and ps2 days. I do understand why 360 owners would preffer the 360 controller but at the same time that controller sucks for madden in my opinion and the ps2 controller fits so many more games then the 360 controller. If anything the 360 controller is more fit for fps games then the ps3 controller but at the same time I find it more easy to navigate around the ds3 controller then the 360 controller because all the buttons are right there. I feel most games I play feel better on the ds3 controller and most fps games are better on the 360.

Thats right the pad for the 360 is better than the ps3 for shoters, but for everyting else the ps3 takes it.

The DualShock 3 triggers are not meant for shooting. They're meant for bringing up weapons inventory, shooting nades, etc. Just secondary fires. For primary fire (shooting your gun), the DS3 defaults to R1 in almost every game. Only GTA IV to my knowledge and Splinter Cell Double Agent user R2, but they can be easily switched. The fact of the matter is though, if you're talking about shooting, the R1 is the button to do it. DS3 triggers are more useful for racing games, and secondary fires (M203 also).

Amen brother, as long as R1 is your primary weapon fire, I dont think its a big deal that the analog sticks are on the same axis. Sure the 360 controller is more comfortable, but accuracy should be the same.
