PS3 is good, Sony is not.

I mean, Sony isn't giving their full effort to the PS3. They're still working with the PS2, which is stupid. Yes, it still sells consoles, but it's last gen and Sony is making their new console really bad to casuals. If they would have dropped the price by another $50 dollars and would have put God of War II on the PS3 instead, it would be doing better. That's why the Wii is doing better, the games are coming to the Wii, and 360 is doing a little better because it has good games coming out this year. I'm sick of Sony not trying very hard. The PS3 is really good, but come on Sony, try harder.

it's called support, unlike MS and Nintendo who just abandon there older consoles. As you can tell by this christmas that the games will start rolling out for the PS3.

Maybe if gow2 came out for the ps3 things would be a little bit better..but I doubt much will be changed though cos casuals will be looking at the price tag first and blue ray is not really what they need right now with the established dvd and all that unless they have hdtv. If ps3 is launched with a lighter pricetag like $450 or so, it could be doing well.

I think they put in pretty much alot of effort on the ps3 now..more than the ps2. The ps2 game lineup looks pretty stale right now.

Yea because if they cut it a few months short MS and Ninty will be all over them even though MS and Ninty never really had the extended support Sony gave to their consoles. Sadly, thats how the industry works.

its a good thing. they are making money out of the PS2. and that money will help them afford another price cut.

so you want them to stop the support for the PS2 and cut the price of the PS3? lol what a smart move

Call me crazy, but if I had to say one of those problems was the worst of the three, I'd go with broken consoles. You buy a Wii knowing Nintendo doesn't get the 3rd party love, you buy a PS3 knowing it's expensive and there isn't a big slection of games right now, you buy a 360 expecting it to break? No. You know there's a problem but I doubt anyone buys it expecting it to fail on them. That sir, is the most serious problem of the three.

I'd have to agree. Thats the main thing keeping me from getting one right now. That and the add ons.

Usually you let other people laugh at your jokes . I guess the smart move is to cut off anything for your other consoles when your new one comes out? That would be when I began to resent a company. Not saying you support a product forever, but to just cut it off as soon as your new product is out would be very foul and sends a bad message to your customers.

Ill keep this short and sweet. M$ intention with the Xbox was to secure a foothold in the market. M$ did not gain a single penny with the Xbox. It did however cause previous Xbox owners and others to purchase the 360 which appears to be selling well. Not as good as the Wii, but definately better than the PS3. It didnt send a bad message to me. M$ included a 10 gig hard drive and a powerful gpu in its orginal console. I looked forward to the next console and I wasnt dissappointed.

You shouldn't take a general statement and attempt to refute it with a particular instance. I could have guessed it didn't apply to you given your obvious support for 360. Selling much better than PS3? You are aware that PS3 is actually selling better, at this point in it's existence, better than 360? As far as gaining a single penny, Xbox just lost MS a large amount of money. Would you then be okay with MS bailing on 360 the way they did with the original Xbox if/when they launch their new console?

Be ok with them bailing now? Hell no I wouldnt. Its not feasible for them to bail now on the 360 when it looks slated for them to start turning a profit with the release of Halo 3. Not to mention the cost of R&D. I worry more about getting hit by a car than M$ bailing now. Also...you still have not responded to me being anti-Sony. What was it, 6000 consoles up in a single week? Sony will never gain any ground at such a rate, not to mention it was a knee jerk reaction from consumers to the price drop.

As for 360's breaking, i'd rather be playing a console and risk it breaking than not be playing my console at all, period.

Sony is trying to grow the brand even more which is a smart move and they are making current ps2 owners very happy until they can get a ps3 to keep them from straying. Another very smart move imo. Sure they could have put Socom , Rougue Galaxy , and God of War II on the ps3 already to get some more sales but I am glad they have a different approach than the other companies. That puts Sony above the competition in my eyes.

The problem with Sony continuing to support the PS2 is their undercutting their own growth with the PS3. This is a very dumb move from a business perspective since they are now actually competing with themselves. Every person who buys a PS2 now has that less money to buy a PS3. While that may make short term sense in that Sony is still making a profit, it makes no long term sense if it costs Sony the majority of the next-gen market. After all, the majority of people buying the PS2 this late in the game are doing so because it is cheap, not out of brand loyalty. When the 360 and/or Wii have their price drop what system do you think those people will flock to? It won't be the $599 PS3. Now Sony will have backed themselves into a corner because not only will the cheap consumers be buying from their competitors, but their lack of next-gen focus will have cost them the majority of the hardcore gaming market as well. This leaves them with nothing but a few scattered remnants of Sony fanboys. Sony needs to wake up because there is a very real chance they could soon find themselves sidelined till the next gen.

All the people that still only have PS2's will get a PS3 when they're ready. They will appreciate that Sony didn't pull the plug on them early like Microsoft did with Xbox support.

I think it's just the opposite. Sony still makes lots of high-quality consumer products, like televisions. The PS3 is just one of their relatively few flubs. Every company has one of those every so often (Virtual Boy anyone?).

Do you have to do that annoying thing were you put something in bold? That's actually worse than your  face. Anyway, please show me a link where I basically say I'm a Sony fanboy.

link to my PS3 sales statement. Here's a link to Japan sales where it's 2 to 1.

Not feasible when they're going to turn a profit with Halo 3? Do you have a link to validate that? Something from an economist or anyone capable of analyzing a companies position because to say Halo is going to allow MS to make up almost 2 billion dollars in losses is absurb. I never said now though. I asked if you'd be okay with them bailing in the same manner they did with Xbox: when they're next console is launched. And congrats for having a PSP but that doesn't negate you flat out bashing PS3 every chance you get. Oh, I don't consider anyone a fanboy this or that because honestly I don't deem those peopel worth my time. I'm a gamer and I went to Sony to provide the best gaming experience and a reliable console. I'm assuming you bought a 360 for similiar reasons. If you are some fanboy, then I'll back out of this right now cuz it's not worth my time.

What was it, a 60% sales plunge? Retailers selling out at a mere 100 dollar price cut? Retailers reporting failure rates at some 30%?

I wouldn't call the PS3 a flub, they're just doing a bad job on the pricing and marketing. Comparing the PS3 to the VB is just plain mean. I don't think there's ever been another system that poorly designed.

What was it, 6000 consoles up in a single week? Sony will never gain any ground at such a rate, not to mention it was a knee jerk reaction from consumers to the price drop.

As for 360's breaking, i'd rather be playing a console and risk it breaking than not be playing my console at all, period.

CyanX73

What was it, a 60% sales plunge? Retailers selling out at a mere 100 dollar price cut? Retailers reporting failure rates at some 30%?

It wasn't a sales plunge, it was a reduction in units shipped to stores due to the large number of 360s shipped the previous year to offset shortages.

Shipped to stores = sales for the company (MS). Sony and MS have always counted sales as sales to stores, not final sales to customers. You can't go changing it now. And yes, their sales were down 60% from the year prior.

This coming from the person who basically said he is a Sony fanboy? But you tried to call me anti Sony and I posted a link to my blog entry in reference to my PSP (A Sony product) which you still havent replied to.

As far as the PS3 selling better then the 360 at this point in existence, do you have a link?

Be ok with them bailing now? Hell no I wouldnt. Its not feasible for them to bail now on the 360 when it looks slated for them to start turning a profit with the release of Halo 3. Not to mention the cost of R&D. I worry more about getting hit by a car than M$ bailing now. Also...you still have not responded to me being anti-Sony. Looking at my profile would help you, and its not set to private...

CyanX73

If you are some fanboy, then I'll back out of this right now cuz it's not worth my time.

omg. i never said this in system wars and probably will never say it again. but i love you man. lol. that face he makes after every comment irks me to no end. thanks for owning him. something i just didnt have the will nor energy to do at this time.

once again nice ownage ( =

Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo are all equally bad in there own ways.

CyanX73

They're bad in their own ways but hardly equally bad.

I'd say they are equally bad. Microsoft with their broken consoles and add ons, nintendo with their 3rd part desert and poor online play, and sony with the most expensive console on the market and with no games for it..

That sir, is the most serious problem of the three.

agreed. i dont expect a system i buy for 400 to break down on me. 3 year warranty is not an issue when i cant back the time i loose from calling, sending, and waiting to get back a system that will eventually break down on me again.

[QUOTE="DuDisNow"][QUOTE="jack_russel"][QUOTE="DuDisNow"]I think if Sony really tried, the PS3 would be doing better than the 360 right now.jack_russel
what do you mean "if they really tired?". They are trying.

But not hard enough

how? It's not like they can just magically make the PS3 start selling.

there not trying until they put 100% focus and effort into the ps3...apparently there is still some focus on the ps2

Okay, I'll try to explain this again. Most stores were having shortages last year so they overstocked on units, thus it appeared MS sold a crapload of units. Now that production is smooth we have a more realistic picture of what to expect on an annual basis. In any case, regardless of where you want to count the sales number, the 360 is still widening it's gap between it and the PS3, which means it's doing just fine. Though none of this matters because to look strictly at sales numbers the Wii is crushing everything and the 360 looks to be it's next victim.

If I had to list the things that you do that annoy me, I would be writing all day.

Anyway, please show me a link where I basically say I'm a Sony fanboy.CyanX73

link to my PS3 sales statement.CyanX73
Interesting,I found a link to counter that. The first 6 months of these consoles lives.

Xbox 360 (1,384,000) PS3 (1,271,000)

Here's a link to Japan sales where it's 2 to 1.CyanX73
I have no arguement to that. And while the PS3 sales are abysmal there as well,I have always said that M$ doesnt need Japan and M$ should just pack up its bags and leave Japan alone all together. Its a waste of resources.

Not feasible when they're going to turn a profit with Halo 3? Do you have a link to validate that?CyanX73
Interesting. You are aware that M$'s fiscal year ended a few weeks ago. That "billion dollar" loss will be reported for the 2007 fiscal year.Oh yea, I have a link. At least 4 million preorders x $60 is 240 million. Thats a dent in the 2008 fiscal year.

Something from an economist or anyone capable of analyzing a companies position because to say Halo is going to allow MS to make up almost 2 billion dollars in losses is absurb. I never said now though.CyanX73
Refer to my above response sir.

I asked if you'd be okay with them bailing in the same manner they did with Xbox: when they're next console is launched. And congrats for having a PSP but that doesn't negate you flat out bashing PS3 every chance you get.CyanX73
Well sir, I also have a launch PS2 and about 25 games for it but thats not the point. You assume Im a fanboy because I bash the PS3. Rightfully so. Its virtually no system I havent owned to INCLUDE a PS3. So now your arguement is what?

Oh, I don't consider anyone a fanboy this or that because honestly I don't deem those peopel worth my time. I'm a gamer and I went to Sony to provide the best gaming experience and a reliable console. I'm assuming you bought a 360 for similiar reasons. Zebra, you can use all the bold font you want but you still got owned . Now please reply with the usual  face and bold font but it won't negate your ownage.

Hey everyone, MS's fiscal year just ended so that 2 billion dollar lost is water under the bridge. And 250 million is a dent in 2 billion? Sir, that's like tossing a cup of water on a burning building.

I never said they didnt take a billion dollar hit. Thats obvious. Fact of the matter remains, its reported for the 2007 fiscal year and not 08. It will still take more than 240 million dollars worth of game sales to even make back that billion dollar hit. So again, the ownage is where?

And again, are we forgetting Sony's recent billion dollar loss w/o the issuance of a warranty?
