PS3 is the best console hardware wise this gen and is worth every penny!

Now that, that is out of the way let me begin. PS3 may not have the best sales, or best gaming library but it for damn sure is the best bang for your buck console of this generation.

• Blu ray - The cheapest standalone blu ray player I've seen was on sale for $399, so.........
• Wi-Fi
• Internet Browser
• Upconverting dvd player
• HDMI input
• Dependable - I know some people have had their problems with their ps3's, but none as worst as RROD
• Multimedia features
• Replaceable HDD; 1TB PS3 anyone? Options, Options, Options!!!!!
• Did I mention that it plays next gen video games? Whether they are exclusive or multiplat it plays them, and plays blu ray for the price of a standalone blu ray player.

Its a sad thing that GTA IV is on the ps3 though.

I agree that you do get alot for your purchase. I've certinaly justified my purchase.

EDIT: You forgot that you don't need additional hardware or batteries to keep the controllers charged, and free online play.

there's no way anyone can deny this about the ps3. It is near FACT that the ps3 have the superior hardware in comparison to the 360 and the wii, but that's it (for now)

The flaw in this whole argument is the assumption that everyone needs or even wants all those features. Consider that there's no such thing as a free lunch; not having all these features could have lead to a cheaper price, which is something many of us would have liked. (I bought my PS3 used because the MSRP was not reasonable for me)

1. It is the cheapest bluray player, but it is not the least expensive anymore.

2. DVD is just fine.

3. The only people who care about the hardware of the ps3 are fanboys who try to justify it as being "the best".

The problem is that the OPs whole argument is that the system is worth its price based on the hardware alone. I can't agree with this. It's the games that give a system its value IMO.

The problem is that the OPs whole argument is that the system is worth its price based on the hardware alone. I can't agree with this. It's the games that give a system its value IMO.

2. DVD is just fine. - If you own an HDTV, HD is the only way to go. No upscaling no nothing. DVD is good for SD. Blu-Ray is only acceptable (other than DLC) for movies played in HDTVs.

* Dependable - Both have problems. If you get RRoD, Microsoft sends you a coffin for FREE
* Multimedia features - 360 can play music and videos
* Replaceable HDD - You can change your HDD and it works without one
* PS3 does not play next gen video games, it plays current generation software just like the 360

Bottom line, the PS3 has great hardware but it focuses as a media center first and a game console second.

ok right there, $299 is the cheapest but 100 dollars more i'd get a PS3, WiFi is $120. it's convienent to have a internet browser.ps3s upscale DVD's to 1080p.HDMI from the start. mine has been dependable since i've got it in apr. 2007, PS3 is a more accessible.. meaning that my step sis can play music on ps3 and not get lost and the only thing she can do on the internet is make myspace pages and use MSN messenger & dl music. compared me is when i'm at my friends house struggling to get through his playlists. PS3's replaceble HDD is no ripoff and you can have high amount of space.and it plays games that you can't get any where else:D. and that's why your post fails.

You can get standalone players for like US$330. Or PC drives for US$150. So no, it is NOT the cheapest.

It was well worth it... and I tend to do that... I grabbed the Xbox 360 purely for Forza 2... Halo 3 was a bonus... I found every other games are only rental worthy. The Wii - stuffed if I knew why I bought that thing... oh yeah thats right my girlfriend wanted to play it - 4 months after purchasing it I finally bought a game for it(Mario Kart Wii).

The PS3 I picked up purely for GT5P and MGS4... other games are a bonus. Infact the PS3 was $700 in Australia while the Xbox 360 was about the same when I purchased it INCLUDING the plug and charge kit, yearly membership and all those extra rubbish Microsoft leech people's wallet for - stuff that SHOULD be free/included.
