If you ever had to replace a carpet you'll see the sheer amount of dust underneath it.

I remember reading somewhere that the ps3 is made of a material that naturally attracts dust and makes it stick to it.

It gets really annoying after a while, you have to pay a lot of attention to your ps3 to keep it shiny and clean.

The USB ports collect more dust than any other area on the PS3. All of my USB ports are used (controller charger, mic, arcade stick, and usb flash disk). It's also the hardest area to clean. :(

I actually have a friend who covers it up with like that plastic (you know the kind you used to cover keyboards) when he's not playing it so it doesn't get dusty.....he's WAY more OCD than me about that stuff.

more like inbeded in the carpet. try sticking you nose to the carpet for a few minutes, wheather you see it or not its still there, the same amount of dust will still fall

Dust is incredibly annoying, I must say. A microfibre cloth, some pledge multi surface spray or some universal TV cleaner (for both the screen and body), and a polish with a softer microfibre cloth does the deed for me :D

This is true, but the 360 gets just as much dusk on it. The only difference is that you can't see them very well.

I know man, it looks so sleek. It's weird you can literally see your own reflection in it. The PSP is the same way. Fanboys, say what you want about Sony this gen, but you have to admit they have ssstttyyyyyyylllleeeeee.

I have to tip my hats off to Sony for the PS3 design. Not only a solid piece of hardware but a stylish one too. I was thinking of getting a dust cover for my ps3, but it looks too damn sexy in the living room to cover up. Oh well, the glossy shine is almost worth the daily wipes.

Someone needs to do a time lapse of their PS3 for a 2-3 month period to see the dust build up day by day.

I agree with you on that. It's hands down the best looking piece of AV equipment I ever owned.

I love that you dont' ever need to touch the PS3 even to turn it off or n.

Well there is always a downside to something that's good. In this case due to the shiny surface of the PS3 it will easily collect dust overnight. You just have to be more careful with it by cleaning it more daily than usual. What always does the trick for me is tissue papers...I just slowly wiped the surface until it is clean, and when I am not playing it I just put a cloth over it for covering.
