All right first off congrats X-box 360 on selling 30 million consoles! This could only be achieved by your greatest selling strategy, one that Sony should adopt. Why spend so much making your platform run smoothly... imagine if sony sold us a system that would break down at a high rate... hell I'd own two systems... one to play and the other in-line for when i send my system back... think about it... my friend who loves his 360 got a r-rod... sent it to x-box and went out and bought another 360 because he couldn't wait two weeks... microsoft GENIUS idea! If my PS3 had broken down, I think i may have done the same thing (or waited) and that would have helped them sell more consoles but noooo sony had to give us quality over quantity what ever... Another thing sony should have done was give us avatars, who wants a virtual life... that is why we invented forums, so we can get a group of people together to play a game, we don't need my pimped out house or anything. No what I need to see is how big of a trekkie geek my friends are via Avatars! It's free, pretty easy to do and you could have made some cash from advertisement... I don't know what else sony could do but they may want to consider their next price drop PS3 to include the YLOD more frequently... then they too can bask in the fact that people go out and buy multiple systems because they bought a faulty one... its a win win, microsoft did it...

(And yes I am being a wise ass but just have fun with it)

LOL I liked the part about the price cut included models that got YLoD more often. Pretty funny.

Sony did that last gen with the PS2, and look at how many PS2s they sold with DRE as it's main feature. You could say that Sony started the trend, and MS took notice. I guess Sony wanted to go with a difference approach this time around.

^ This. And I don't see what so bad about avatars. Their free and are just put there for fun. Their development did not slow down any development for the 360 so why complain?

ha ha ha good one.

an original strategy of the long term approach rather than tossing out an inferior product too fast with insufficient R&D - has paid off and Sony has taken the correct approach.

You get what you pay for and the PS3 is proof of that - there were a few problems but almost all with the launch versions.

I agree, the part where you say (this maybe a waste of your time fyi). Thanks for the warning, lol.

Anyway, I don't think Sony can afford giving 3 year warranties though.

Most people will nto go buy a second console. In canada there is a 3-5 day turnaround, thats one week. RROD lost MS money, lots of money. I'm sure it cost them sales also, with the bad rap the RROD caused. I think maybe your statements are incorrect.

how exactly has it paid off for sony?

by not rushing out an inferior product. I never claimed they were taking over the word but they are doing well.

Forbes Magazine, someone to trust for financial information shows Sony is making a profit.

backing up my argument with evidence makes me unusual in SW I realize but after all.....

I get so tired of the SW unsubtantiated claims that are really personal opinion.

it if is really just because that is what you feel just admit it. I hope all the systems do well and don't understand why anyone would want any of them to fail.

that way of thinking in and of itself is an automatic instant FAIL and self ownage of the argument.
