What are u talking about? When has Ps3 / 360 gotten a cable reciver??
PS3 because it supports 1080p.
When it supports 1080p mean It is stronger than 360 GPU.

Lol and you think 360 doesnt support 1080p? slowpoke!

Wow this guy does NOT know what he's talking about. The 360 has a built-in scaler chip for all the necessary resolutions inculding 1080p. In fact, in the future, it could theoretically scale up to even higher resolutions.
On a standard def TV, both consoles are going to look very similar. It would HIGHLY depend on the game, not so much the console. Just go with the console that has the games you prefer and you'll be fine. Use a component cable (red, green, and blue cords) for the best quality picture. If you don't have component inputs, use S-Video -- it's still much better than the regular composite cables.
The main problem with using standard def TV's is that details such as text (which is often very important in a game) are quite a bit smaller and there's no font adjustment so you're stuck squinting at tiny letters on the screen. Developers should really think about including a standard def font option where the letters and the interface are enlarged. I have a 42" HDTV and I still find some text to be a little small even in hi-def. That new Xbox Live Arcade "Catan" demo has text that must be impossible to read in standard def.

That's true. Gears of War at 480i still looks great on my SDTV. gnutuxgears.
after that, there is no answer. some ps3 games look down right atrocious on sdtv (including resistence and cod3, the ps3's best looking game). and believe me theres nothing "next gen" about 360 on 480i either (other than gears, the second best looking game on sdtv is actually gh2).
if u want next gen, i'd suggest something that supports 720p, whether it be monitor, hdtv, or otherwise. cuz honestly, there are tons of xbox games on hdtv that look better than 360/ps3 games on sdtv.

correct.HD doesnt do that much for games. It helps but its not as big as a leap as people think. Games will still look about the same. And unlike that person said, Lost Planet and Vitua Fighter both look good on a SDTVEducated_Gamer!0 to 1 he doenst own a HDTV because it is a massive leap. Kinda like the leap from a low End GM car to a BMW, Lexus, Ferrari, Ect.

The fonts on my SDTV is perfectly readable, unless you can't read size 12 font. gnutux[QUOTE="25-Automatic"]PS3 because it supports 1080p.

This guy here... all his posts are like this... all of em.
And it's a real problem because 99 % of them don't make sense.
[QUOTE="WilliamRLBaker"]The ps3 has an internal scaler right?gnutuxI don't think so, but I can be wrong about this because I don't remember reading the RSX having an internal scaler. gnutux
then I would believe the 360 would be much better on SDTVs I.E 480i only capable tvs, Because a scaler would make it much more efficient at downscaling and showing those types of resolutions.
I've ran Oblivion in SD on my computer, it's not that bad actually (640x480, is SD on computer). gnutuxIt doesn't matter. They both look horrible.
Don't even listen to the people who say there is no difference. You can't tell as much on a forum. In real life, your eyes want to burn. I wanted to die after I saw Oblivion in SD

PS3 does not have an internal scaler. But this doesn't really mean much with 480i resolutions anyways as both consoles look pretty much the same at the downgraded resolution. It's for 1080i on some TV's that this becomes a problem. The PS3 can't render a 1080i image. Only 480p, 720p, or 1080p. If a TV ACCEPTS ONLY a 1080i image for Hi-def, then the PS3 will downgrade it to 480p. It can't scale to 1080i internally.
Some people will say -- "wait, my TV can do 1080i and the PS3 works fine". But that's only if your TV also accepts 720p signals thus allowing it to convert the image to either 1080i or retaining a 720p image.
Anyhow, anyone who tells you HD doesn't make much difference has not spent much time looking at any HDTV above 20" in size. Even at that size, it's still noticeable. Think about it. Set your computer monitor to 640 X 480. That's about the same as 480p (which is still better than 480i). Then change the resolution to 1280 X 720. That's about the same as 720p. Notice a sharper image? That's about the difference in sharpness and detail. It's pretty significant.
