I'm not here to start an argument. Let me get that out of the way. I'm simply curious as to how many people prefer the 360 controller to the PS3 controller and why. A lot of my friends prefer it but I can't figure out why. I actually bought the 360 the first night (November 22, 2005, 200) so I'm not a PS3 homer. Actually, up until a few months ago, I preferred it as well. Now though, I find the PS3 has that classic controller that just....feels right. I don't like the divets in the 360's joysticks, even though some say it contours to your fingers better. My fingers stay on the PS3 joysticks just fine. I'm probably overanalyzing all this, but whatever.

Your opinions?

I like the the PS3 controller cause it feels more tight. 360 controller feels like a brick. Also I don't like that the analog sticks on the 360 aren't in line with each other.

I don't get this. Why is it better for shooters? They're too similar IMO to be better for different genres.

DS3, it's just more accurate for any game that requires aiming.

Somehow, I never realized that. Maybe that's the reason I feel more comfortable with a PS3 controller in my hands.

This. Maybe I'm just used to the PS3 controller, because I do not have small hands or anything. Everything feels much more in my control with it than the 360's brick.

Yeah but shouldn't that be for all games? Why just shooters?

Either are fine for me, suppose I like the 360 a little more because it feels like it has a little more to it and seems like it's of better quality. Generally I play shooting games on my 360 (few exceptions) and most other multiplats and such on the PS3.

if ps3 came with an altenate, like triggers to whatever the r2 l2 buttons are (pedals?). It would be pretty even.

You can always buy the real trigger extensions.

Anyway, I prefer the PS3 controller simply because of the D-Pad. Everything is else is basically the same to me, but the better D-Pad puts it over the top.

Dualshock 3 all the way. I hate the way the 360 controller feels, especially the analog sticks and their placement.

They both get the job done. PS3 controller is better when you want to use the D-pad, though.

And my 360 controller runs on batteries I must replace. Therefore, it fails compared to the rechargeable PS3 controller. ;)

PS3 def has better directional pad but 360 has much better analog sticks and triggers imo.

The old original xbox first controller was the worst ever though so bad, thing was massive!

The 360 controller for me hands down. I dont like the placment of the analog sticks on the PS3 pad and it feels to light. The triggers are also poor and the controller feels cheap. I have bought a £14 360 clone controller for my PS3 and its a lot better for me. I have the new Xbox controllers with the revised dpad and its a lot better now.

I like the PS3. Its more compact. The 360 controller just seems like too much.

I like the analog sticks and triggers on the 360 controller more thought.

Xbox 360 controller for me, I like the easy of use headset, I like the keyboard attachment that fits nicely into it vs the PS3 keyboard which sits above, I like the durable weight of it, I like the stronger vibration better, triggers are superior and have a nice strong spring to them, and I like the concave analogs over the PS3's convex analogs, plus I like the corded controllers so I don't have to recharge them and MS offers those. The one downside of course is the d-pad, which isn't a concern really as the only game it's needed for is the downloadable SF2 games. Nearly every other game uses it for quick inventory or something as a shortcut, works just fine for that.

360 controller. Actually i play all my multiplats on 360 because of this. If the RROD company didn't have the controller i liked i would have ditched that Failure Box a long time ago.

If only PS3 had the 360 controller it would solve all my problems. I dont like the shape, the added sensitivity to the joysticks, the joystick placement [too close together & they shouldnt be in line with one another], & the triggers are absolutely horrible. Really its the triggers i can't stand the most. Get real triggers on that bad boy & i think i can deal with my other issues.

Eh, there are pros and cons to both.

PS3

Pros: Great d-pad, great analog placement, rechargable through USB.

Cons: Crappy triggers, not a very ergonomic design.

360

Pros: Great triggers, feels just right in my hands

Cons: God awful d-pad, crappy analog placement, concave analog stick, takes batteries.

I actually ended up swapping the left analog sticks in both my 360 controllers with sticks from my old Ps2 controllers. Because of the concave design on the stick, my thumbs had a tendency to slip to the bottom edge during gameplay and it would get really uncomfortable.

I like the Xbox360 controller, but I dont own one and haven't played in a long time... I have a PS3, so DS3 I guess. I wish they change the shape and size or something but Im not sure what though. Im thing not quit perfect. it feels nice to hold it but feels something missing when playing.
