Which console is best for someone who like rpg games?

I don't know how the Xbox 360 pulled it off. At the moment the selection is much larger. You're next choice for RPGs is the Wii especially for 2009. A lot of these Japanese developers who do not have a major publisher normally produce RPGs for the Xbox 360 and the Wii to reduce development cost.
nower day its what ever JRPG the ps3 gets so does the 360. so360 win this hands down. alo more RPG exclusives and slightly better versions of bethseda RPGs ie DLC, Actual performance
Guess its time for me to get a Xbox360 was hoping ps3 would come out with more rpg's.

Don't buy an Xfail60. PS3 is the future with free online and greater hardware.
Action-RPGs (American/European) are always great with X-Box, J-RPGs (Japanese-FF,Dragon Quest, ect.) can be both. The problem is that in Japan Microsoft is not a Japanese company so its not popular. Its like US's campaign in the 60-70s to buy American, Japanese tend to only like their own. But, Since RPGs are much more popular in Japan than US/EU and Sony's PS3 is more popular in Japan than Microsoft's X-Box 360, therefore the PS3 seems to be more appropriate for RPGs. (PLUS- the PS3 has BluRay)Elfstrumwhile it make snese based on what has been happening the 360 has been getting all the rpgs.

What you say does make sense, although more and more JRPG developers are going 360 due to larger install base and ease of use when coding.

hmmm the hardware is pretty much identical in terms of performance... plus online is $50 a year (which is nothing)... I own both and like my PS# more, but you just make the rest of us look silly
Probably the PS3. Final Fantasy XIII Versus and White Knight Chronicles own everything.

In allhonest as a RPG fan myself I'm glad that I went with the Xbox 360 first. You have more chance to play a roleplaying game on Microsoft consoles, and it's a significant number versus what's available on the PS3. If you're a Wii owner the number is still greater; and 2009 for Nintendo's system looks amazing:
Vanillaware who created the PS2 hidden gem, Odin Sphere is developing Muramasa: The Demon Blade for the Wii with the same type of art direction. Then some of the staff who made the wonderful GameCube RPG, Tales of Symphonia, are making Arc Rise Fantasia. Tri-Crescendo also has Fragile coming to Nintendo console, and Little King Story needs no explanation.
I also have Wii as well so this year as a RPG fan I am quite excited. Plus 2010 for the Xbox 360 has Mass Effect 2 and Final Fantasy XIII. Not mention Dragon Quest X and a new Tales "Mother" game is coming to the Wii.
With me already owning a Xbox 360 and Wii I could be satified. But of course I am not, because both WKC and Versus are on the PS3. For me I made my console purchases at the right time(Xbox 360 in 2007 and Wii in 2008). I already have a healthy collection of RPGs underneath by belt with a lot to look foward too on those systems. With White Knight Chronicles having a estimated release date with Versus having none what so ever. That allows me to wait on Sony's console while saving money to purchase it. That's always been my idea.
With White Knight Chronicles possibly coming out this year in North America I guess it wouldn't hurt to purchase a PS3 in 2009 especially after filing my taxes. But I would still suggest a Xbox 360 or a Wii over the PS3 for roleplaying games. Buy a PS3 in 2010 if you only see yourself purchasing RPGs. In the end it's what you feel comfortable with.

Cry me a river. SHould the people that had multiple problems with the PS2 not get a PS3. Besides the failure rate of the new 360 is quite low and MS said RROD shou,ld be no more.lol wow fanboy much. hmmm the hardware is pretty much identical in terms of performance... plus online is $50 a year (which is nothing)... I own both and like my PS# more, but you just make the rest of us look silly
So RRoD and other failures galore with the 360 doesn't mean it has inferior hardware? Also PS3 uses an auto disc drive and bluray high capacity unscratchable discs, has rechargable controllers with a better D-pad, and PS3 allows for higher capacity HDDs of any brand 500gb+ that are cheap like $79. Also PSN is free and lag free and a web browser. Whatever you say!
you won't find anything like disgea 3 or valkyria chronicles on wii/x360
and everything else is pretty much multiplatRhubarb9
Too bad neither hold a candle to TOV

Agreed that the 360's RROD is a pain in the backside, but at least they cover their bases and offer free repairs on it. I'm the last to give Microsoft their dues, but at leat they're trying to deal with it. Agreed that PS3 is great because of Blu-Ray, but it still performs exactly the way the 360 does... The PS3 is infamous for being difficult to program and code for, and that makes the 360's hardware superior in that way... it's all apples and oranges, each has advantages and disadvantages

The guy asked for rpgs. How does any of that deal with the fact he wants to play rpgs.I have to agree. RPG fans in general haven't always worried about hardware unless it comes to playing Final Fantasy XIII in thefuture. And now that choice is harder since the game went multiplatform. Yes, the Playstation 3 has some reliable and powerful hardware. But who's going to use it to make the next RPG?I am not saying that the future of the PS3 has no RPGs in it what so ever. But do you think the next Breath of Fire game from Capcom is going to be an exclusive to Sony consoles if one is announced? Whydoes Monster Hunter, Dragon Quest, and the nextTales game going tothe Wii. What's up with Mistwalker, Tri-Ace, and Square Enix? For a RPG fan who's definitely into Japanese culture, they're moreworried about those questions rather then hardware.
360 has all the RPG's, PS3 has very minimal, i dont even think that the PS3 has any exclusve RPG's besides Valkrie Chronicles or what ever its called

Sony didn't intentionally release a faulty system out onto the public just to beat its competition like MS. And it's taking MS 4 years to solve it, rediculous! Sony had it's origional controllers for the first 6 months of systems have connectivity issues which were minor and only happened on occasion and they fixed that problem by creating new Dual Shock 3 controllers with rumble and had no more connect issues. PS3 has performed flawlessly other than that. Sony isn't just out to get all the money it can out of people. Infact when I was buying games for each of my systems from the PS Store online the quickly sent me an e-mail telling me to stop because I could pay once and download them to 5 systems. Now my brother in law gets to download all my games to his 2 PS3s for free. He had 360s and got fed up with MS and switched. He wont regret it I guarantee it.
