Maybe it might be too early to say.....but anyways I'm going to say it....it has started I told you so !! HAHAHAHAHA!!!NathanDrakeJust a tad too early. ;) Unless the Wii sells zero consoles and the PS3 suddenly sells about 4 million, then you might have a little justification.

Shame none of us live in Japan and a shame that it's tanking everywhere else :(. Hey at least I got the 60gb model with the BC so it will always be my PS2+BR player :D.

The Japanese live in Japan and they're buying more PS3's than Wii's. Damage control FTW.

It's also outselling the 360 in Europe and Australia.

Oh don't worry!!! Strange things will happen verry soon!! At least for Xbox & Nintendo fans.....to us ...well we kind of knew;)
Software sales were interesting. Wii has 4 games in the top 10 and Umbrella Chronicles was number 2 at over 100,000 units. Not too shabby. Nice to see that Capcom and Resident Evil isstill having success on the Wii. Worldwide that game should easily see half a million in sales, if not a million depending on how much it takes off in America.
Mario Galaxy is doing just fine. Mario games historically have far better legs than most, and it will in all likelihood will continue to have modest sales for several months.
PS3 can also claim 2 games in the top 10 too. Looks like the PS3 may finally have gotten some sustained success.

Mario games also usually sell well when they first release.

actually it's only tanking really hard in the US and is competitive against the 360 in Europe, but massively destroys the 360 in japan[QUOTE="Robio_basic"]Software sales were interesting. Mario has been out since November 1st in Japan, and it is the 21st today so that is last weeks meaning it was already Super Mario Galaxy's third week in Japan. There are no surprises here. The PS3 price cut combined with a game that people want are definitely helping its sales. But this is pretty much the same as the 360 and Halo 3 situation in the US. The biggest question is can the PS3 sustain these sales for a longer period of time and not drop down in sales the next month like the 360 did.

Funny you say that since no JRPG has been released for the PS3 yet. How does that correlate to any of the sales data?
This is meaningless. The only reason PS3 is outselling the Wii in Japan, is because the Wii is constricted by the lack of supply.Tylendal

Why does the wii have a lack of supply still? Im sure the wii isnt sold out everywhere in japan, face it the wii wont last. Good news is, it doesnt have to last as Nintendo has already made a killing from it.

Because they want the system that will have the jrpgs that they want. FFXIII, White Knight Story, Star Ocean 4 and many others have been announced. In other words, this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Sorry, but they're shipping 1.8 million every month. People are buying every one that's manufactured.

kevy619
That doesn't make sense. FFXIII and White Knight Story have already been known about since the launch of the PS3 and those didn't improve the sales of the system for the entire year. Star Ocean 4 was announced during TGS and that was I believe in September and it didn't help the PS3 in sales. So where are you getting this info from?

So what you're saying is the Wii has died, and PS3 will continue to outsell through the holiday season? Wanna take that SW bets? Thought so

Then they should ship 2.5 million a month, kinda stupid not to dont you think? Nintendo has always done some stupid things, good thing for their first party games.

It's not as if they have a magic wand that they just wave, and make a bunch of consoles. Making more consoles would require more factories, and more machines, that would quickly become obsolete, once the demand finally dies down. They're already shipping at a faster rate than any console in history.
thats good for sony . nintendo really needs to get there supply going and more games to expand the market .deadmeat59
well, nintendo's finally bringing them out.....seems like an 8 for their games is a consistant score, and that's good for most of what they've been releasing, with a few exceptions.

Technically it is selling well. However, I understand you're not going by typical videogame standards, but by A-list series standards. However, that was recently proven to be incorrect within this forum about a week ago when stats were posted for how well the Mario series has sold during it's first week. True, Galaxy is on the lower end of the spectrum, but it wasn't wildly out of line with other Mario games.
Yeah... but did anyone look at the top ten games selling in Japan?
1. Mario Party (DS) 115000 (Total: 357000)
2. REUC (Wii) 105000
3. Dynasty Warriors 6 (PS3) 73000 (Total: 250000)
4. Game Center CX (DS) 46000
5. Famista (DS) 45000
6. Super Mario Galaxy (Wii) 43000 (Total: 378000)
7. Heavenly Sword (PS3) 16000 (Total: 23000)
8. Wii Sports (Wii) 15000 (Total: 2106000)
9. Wii Play (Wii) 15000 (Total: 1662000)
10. FFTA2 (DS) 14000 (Total: 249000)The Article
... looks like Wii still has a dominating hold on the gaming market in Japan, even if PS3 consoles are being sold at larger numbers - I'm guessing people are buying them in advance for next year (Final Fantasy)... but people just keep buying things for the Wii... and go figure. Look at Mario Party DS....
damn it outsold Wii by a lot. nearly 20,000 systems. way to go PS3! lol and it outsold 360 nearly 10:1 TOTAL_DEFENSE_0do some quick math for me and calculate how many months it will take the PS3 to outsell the Wii by 20,000 units to overcome it's lead in Japan. 20,000 not a lot especially just after a drop in price. Sony is FUBAR.

only place its getting out sold is usa so your saying. not that the wii wont come back in japan but think before you say something
I have to wonder if this would be the case if Nintendo could actually keep up with demand. (Wii sales are essentially capped right now, since Nintendo refuses to build new production lines)ThePlothole
Supposedly Nintendo has increased production and this weekthey will be shipping more units out for increased holiday demand, though it still won't match demand.
