PS3 Over took 360 in Japan and now in Europea..soon NA!

How long do you guys think it will take PS3 to pass xbox 360 in North America, this year PS3 sold more units than xbox 360 in North America...I think PS3 can easily over take xbox 360 before end of this year due to increase in number of PS3 units sold because of GTA IV and soon MSG4.

yeah but remeber increase in hardware will increase software sales for PS3...GTA IV sold about 2:1 ratio on xbox 360 compare to PS3 which is about the same for users for each platform...

Actually, I've checked some statistics on this and look at this:

85% of all Blu-ray players are PS3s.

The attach rate of standalone players is estimated at 4:1

The number of blu-ray DISCS sold is roughly 50% of the installbase of the PS3.

Do the maths and you'll find the number of PS3 blu-ray players are rather low :|

EDIT: Sorry, it's actually 4:1 on standalone players.

more like 13 million to 5 million. unless you have a link to sony saying they had 8 million psn users, we do know that microsoft said months ago they had 10 million xbox live users, and that has bound to gone up since.

And 3 months, and a very slight shift in installbase (for both consoles) I doubt it's gone up. Until you get official numbers let's wait on this, k?

PS3 sales will be driven by whatever the latest and greatest new release on Blu-Ray is.

The ps3 will never catch the 360 in North america, not at the rate it's going. Australia/New Z seems to favor the 360 as well.

360 never had a chance in japan to begin with, lets be serious. While it's doing ok in europe, mainly uk...the ps3 was bound to pass it once it got off the ground.

Actually, the install base for PS3/X360 are extremely close in Australia/New Zealand. X360 still wins though.

The PS3 does better software sales in europe than the 360, most people don't even know it's a bluray player. Casuals don't. And devs care, more installed base more software sales, why do you think the 360 sells so much games?...Could it be....just a guess here.....A HIGH INSTALL BASE?!?!?!?!?

Hold a second, this isn't a single source. This is logical deduction from different data from lots of different sources.

lol I find it funny you bring up Japan where that's Sony's Heartland North American I doubt it never will it happen. Europe there both fighting it's the battle of Britain.

lol I'm so sick of hearing about Blu Ray from Sony. Like at Playstation Day they had some guy come out there and talk about Blu Ray. Who cares? I mean, the extra space is great for games but as for movies - gimmie a break.

I care nothing about Blu Ray movies, I care about games.
