I own a PS3 and have been watching the price of the 360 slowly drop. Part of me thinks, "hell, why not pick up one since it is so cheap now". However, I have a real issue buying broken hardware, and I am well aware the RROD is still a huge issue.

I used to own a 360 (feel free to check my posting history)until it broke.

So, would you buy one if they fixed the RROD?

Please, no fanboys saying that the RROD is A) made up or, B) fixed... because neither of these statements are true.

yup i would. RROD is the main reason i dont have a 360 yet. paying for online gaming is also a rip off but since i'm not interested in multiplayer i don't mind.

even if microsoft said they fixed the problem you whouldn't see a difference around here since we are far into this gen

and since RROD is one of the only agruments cows can use againist the 360 and come out the victor everytime you wont be seeing any cows jumping ship

I would buy one in a heartbeat if there was no RROD and if the online was free.

I dunno, ps3 owners are in a much better position than 360 owners. ps3 owners have lots of great exclusives and, if a 360 owner wants to play these, they need to shell out a fair amount of money. ps3 owners, by contrast, only have to lay down about $190 and we can play everything the 360 has to offer...

I'd probably buy a 360 for Fable 2 and Star Ocean 4 (if it stays exclusive). RROD shouldn't be that big of a deal as long as the warranty is good.

warranty or not, I do not want to part with any amount of money for something that is inherently broken. but yes, if they fixed the 360, i would get on.. just for a few exclusives

I would buy a 360 if i had the extra money. 360 has enough good exclusive to warrant a purchase. Sadly this holiday is filled with great games and i need a new winter jacket and boxing gloves.

Ummm the 360 has a 3 year warranty anyway so there is no need to fear RROD.

As long as your console was manufactured in 2008, RRoD should be an issue. Yes you still here about RRoD today, but you rarely hear about them. Most people that say they got RROD today usually have an older model.

Probably not. There just isn't enough difference hardware and game library wise between the two consoles that warrants owning both IMO (I went with the PS3 because of blu-ray and Sony's predictably great first party line up). That and I can only afford to buy one console per gen :P.

Probably not, I don't like the idea of having to purchase more than the one console a generation. (just always been this way) Plus I'll most probably be upgrading my PC some time next year and I know at least one of the 360's games I want to play is likely to come to PC. (Fable II)

sorry dude, i bought my 360 i feb 2008. it died in march 2008. It was replaced (by the store) in march 2008 for a new system. this one lasted 3 months then died of RROD. I gave up at this point and swapped to ps3. .. so i dont buy the whole "post 2008 is fine".

I have owned many consoles and never had a problem with any. hell, i still own a dreamcast, saturn, ps1, ps2, megadrive and mastersystem. they all work.

i had a 360 but like a lot of people on here it broke on me more than once. i switched to ps3 and never looked back. loved gears of war but one game is not worth it. ps3 exclusives kinda fit me more anyway since i dont care about ninja gaiden, halo, or fables.

I have 4 360's and 2 PS3's. 2 original pro's, 1 new 60g Pro and an Elite. A 60g PS3 from launch and a 40g with a 250g drive. I only care about games not fanboyism. Been one sided is like been a racist.

hey, xbl is better than psn ( mabye home will change that lol), but its not a big enough difference to warrant that amount of money, i can afford it easily, but my principles won't let me.

I went thru 6...yes 6 PS2's. Not all from the same one but I had bought 4 by the time it was said and done. But the first got replaced 3 times the third 2 times and the last one once. But the second one is still kicking. I had my worst experience with PS2. All DRE's.

well, i checked the model number on my second one (not sure baout my first) and i, using info a found on the web, found that i had a "falcon" chip. unfortuantly, it still died. I gave it all the space i could (nothing else around it) but it still died.

I do like the 360 and i think it has some great games.. but i really hate bad hardware.

have really enjoyed the ps3... but, like i said, if the RROD was fixed i would get a 360 as a secondry console.

If RROD was fixed maybe. If Xbox live was free AND RROD was fixed...yes. But that's a fantasy that will never happen. RROD is here to stay and so is paying for Xbox live. Back to get trophies in Burnout I go.

Earlier yes I would've, but now I cant just spend 200 bucks on a new system, So right now even if it was fixed i couldnt, but later on when I have a bit more money and RROD is actually gone then yes I will be first in line to buy one but until then my PS3 and laptop are enough for me.

if the 360 had no massive hardware problems... the reliable hardware would make MS crank up the price of the 360. The low price is to mask the rrod. But right now I don't have the desire for a 360 even if RROD was fixed. Just finished IU, still havent tried ToV on my cousin's box. Out of all the jrpgs this gen, I would say I enjoyed ES and LO. That's it so far.

I just got 980$from my insurance company for a car door I won't repair. I asked myself if I wanted to own a 360 (already have a ps3). The answer came very fast: no, it's not even worth 200$ because there is nothing the 360 has over the pS3 that appeals to me.

I saw the 20GB por's for 199 and I almost bought one. Live costs a game per year plus there are so few exclusives I want and I'm not a fan of the controller (I like my analog sticks where they are). RROD is really a secondary concern

No he's not, thats his opinion. Respect it. Anywho, I wouldn't mind purchasing a 360 just to get the best of both worlds, but unfortunatley for me, I'm not swimming in money so that's not going to happen anytime soon. High five for economic recession lol.

I think a new graphics card is a much better investment...

PS3 and 360 games already look dated to a PC gamer.. and so lite. People like me who own all three almost always prefer the gaming pc. Sad (I wish console games were more interesting) but true.
