Make a price drop so they can lose more money? They are already losing alot of money and we should be grateful the PS3 is $600 and not $700 - $800 I remember alot of analysts predicated.

I think the earliest time we will see a price drop is on the PS3's one year anniversary in Europe. A dual drop for both territories would be in order then.

I doubt there are any price drops, I check up with my EBGames store regularly and they haven't said anything to this extreme. Plus, if Sony did that, then it would really hurt their profit base and put their net loss even further. gnutux

LOL, you were lied to in the biggest of ways. Most Eb Games emplyees dont know squat about the gaming industry and spend time creating their own rumors and speculation to help drive sales. A price drop for the PS3 now will only show how desperate Sony is to try and sell their console. There still are no games worthy of rushing out and buying a PS3 for. Motorstorm and VF 5 are nice games, but not system sellers. That is like a perspective 360 buyer saying that Crackdown is a system seller for the 360. Nice and fun game, but worthy of spending $400 on alone!
Trust me when I say the first price drop will come from MS. The XBOX 360 will be out 2 years in November. Halo 3, Mass Effect, Blue Dragon and Unreal Tournament 3 will all be arriving for the holidays and Im betting a nice, new $299 price tag on the 360 Premium will help MS destroy its competition in late 2007!

If they lower the PS3 price, they have to take something out. Your better off getting the stronger ones now before they totally go down in performance.
I remember when the original Xbox launched in Australia the price was dropped from $650 to $400 about a month after launch. MS offered 2 free games and a controller to anyone who bought it before the price drop. If Sony could do something like this I think it would help keep early adopters from being too annoyed.

I hate going to Ebgames/gamestop. I only go there if I really have to. They pressure you into buying the crappiest of games because no one else wants them. A mom or non-gamer will fall vicitm to them though.

If you're referring to Japan: they've been free to set their own price for the PS3. that's a totally different situation there. In the US: the price has been set and isn't changing anytime soon. In Europe: the price went UP before launch and isn't going to change anytime soon.
