My local Best buy says they ran out of PS3s and the new shipment comes in on wednesday. So I called another Best buy and they said the exact same thing almost word for word. Wednesday or tomorrow should be interesting.

For some reason I doubt a price cut at the end of summer. Historically if it happens it will be in Oct or Nov. Just because they are waiting for new shipments doesnt mean anything. It could just mean they are not building that model anymore so they have to go to different warehouses to get the supplies. It would be a waist to cut the price now. If they were going to do in the summer it would have been at E3........now you just have to wait for the 4th qtr.

Killzone 2 and Infamous. On top of that they released a MGS 4 and Killzone 2 bundle recently. Is it really hard to believe that people are actually buying PS3's?

Doesn't every store order new stock every so often? For example I was going to purchase Valkyria Chronicles but the store said they were "out of stock and on order with their supplier."

shipments always come in on Tuesday and are on the shelf on Wednesday. I would think some of the other sites would have started circulating rumors about a pricedrop this week if it were going to happen.

It syncs up with the rumors PERFECTLY. Uh... no it doesn't. It just means the central distribution for the Best Buys in your area does the replenishments on the same day. That's not some magical "sync up" - it's an intentional consolidation to reduce shipping costs.

Based on the topic I would assume that The PS3 is selling well at least at these particular stores.
No idea as to whether it's "selling well" or not - but stores determine their order quantities based on seasonally-adjusted sales figures. In simple terms, this means that stores stock the number of units they expect to sell - so "selling out" doesn't necessarily mean a product is doing well - only that the store has set the appropriate quantity for each order cycle.

For the record, the PS3 has been at $400 for almost 2 years now. People regreting spending $500 got their money's worth seeing that they probably purchased the launch console and owned technology (blu-ray) that was much more expensive by itself (at that time). I admit that people currently buying the PS3 for $400 should be upset when the price drop happens.....then again they could be playing KZ2, inFamous, MGS4, or LBP and think it was worth it.
