If the PS3 price dropped then it would still probably be outsold by the Wii and maybe XBox360. Sony are selling their console for about £500 in Europe and even if they have a price drop that won't help the PS3 sales much
If the price drop is significant, the people who are holding off on buying the PS3 because of the 600 dollar price tag will buy it. I would call that a change.

Consoles having price drops doesn't mean people will buy them because of that. The PS3 is a failure. Even if it did drop in price the Wii and XBox360 would probably do the same and the Wii is selling at way faster than the PS3
Price drop + games + end of the year will help get the ball rolling. Don't forget there are a lot of ps2 owners waiting for the right time to buy.

I agree. Remember when Gamecube dropped to $100 and included Mario Kart Double Dash for free? It STILL didn't sell. Why? I think Gamecube, for some reason or another, had a negative stigma attached to it, and nothing could help it sell. Same thing is happening to PS3 IMO.
Nintendo now has games playable for online and one of it's biggest titles Super Smash Bros Brawl which looks like it's gonna be online is gonna sell way more than any PS3 game and not forgetting Mario Galaxy is gonna be huge as well. GTA4 is not a PS3 exclusive either.

I'm all for Brawl being online, but the online service doesn't hold a candle to the 360's and PS3's. And GTAIV may not be exclusive, but it's not on the Wii.

Nintendo is in no possition to drop the price of the Wii. Not with how demanding that system is. The 360 is coming to its time to for a price drop soon. 2008 soon. Wil be interesting to see if in fact the PS3 does go down in price in 2007 or not.

Wii is a piece of trash and is not even worth $250 as all it's hardware costs about $50 to make. If Wii was the same price as the 360 or the PS3 it wouldn't sell at all.. cause thats all wii is selling on right now it's cheap price... not because it's a good console. It's a stinker of a console.

The PS2 cost way more than a Gamecube in price and I will agree the PS2 was way better than Gamecube. The PS3 has the blu ray which makes it cost alot in the end. The Wii doesn't have a DVD player or anything like those features and the graphics are nowhere near a PS3 that is why it's way cheaper. Yes it might be selling well because of it's price and the games are a bit average I will agree Zelda is probably the only decent game out for it. The Wii has got alot of big name franchise like Mario and Zelda which will help it sell even more and Nintendo wanted their console to be different to the PS3 and XBox360 thats why it costs less and it's helping the console sell but Nintendo just wanted their console to play games on it not like the PS3 which wanted to offer other features besides playing games on it.

Completely different types of games imo. The uber casuals will go Wii sure , but playstation fans that want GTA IV , FFXIII , MGS4 , God of War III , Gran Turismo 5 , Assassins Creed etc will go PS3 or the next best thing(360). All I am saying is that there are a ton of playstation fans that haven't coverted yet and a price drop and games will help sales.
A $100 price drop would be great for me; for what it offers the PS3 deserves to be high priced and being able to purchase it at any price less than $600 is a great deal. With all the promising games it has coming out for the rest of this year and definitely into the first half of 2008; it'll be worth every penny. A price drop could change a lot of things, regardless of what the competition offers, the PS3 will still have it's own set of exclusives.
A price drop would bring a spike in sales, but the PS3's already been branded as the console not to own by the masses. Fighting that is going to be like Nintendo fighting their kiddie image with the gamecube: simply impossible.

True. NO point when it's selling. 360 should be the one to do that if the ps3 does.
I would still buy when the price drops and for any of these 3 reasons; 1. I would use it as a blu-ray player, because its clearly seen that blu-ray will win the format war, and the PS3 will be the cheapest blu-ray player in the market next to samsung player. 2. MGS4, that game will be best, no matter how much hate it is getting. 3. GOW3, I liked the first and second game, cant wait till the third game.
