It was recently announced that the PS3 sold about 4.5 million consoles globally. However, more recent sales show that the actual number is 6 million. http://www.psu.com/PlayStation-3-hits-6-Million-Sales-WorldWide--a791-p0.php Things seem to be looking up for Sony with a larger install base and a new Rockstar exclusive: http://www.psu.com/-New-PS3-Exclusive-from-Rocktar-Games-on-the-way--a788-p0.php Not bad for a system that was previously $600, huh?

they havent sold6 million, im pretty sure of that. But it is selling well for such an expensive conole with "no games"
I don't really believe the 4.5 million figure either. I've been following the NPD and media create numbers and the numbers don't match up to equal that amount unless there were quite a lot sold in Europe, which I doubt. I think in terms of gamers having the consoles, I'd say there's about 3.5-3.8 mil install base right now. The 700k or so have been sold to retail stores.
