PS3 sales on par with 360, launches aligned.

im a Xbox 360 hardcore guy but it seems like the 360 guys like mehave been wrong all the time.

PS3 is selling well, just like PS2 did by its time.

Is the PS3 really suffering as badly as it seems? Admittedly, it's getting to a slow start, but many forget that the Xbox 360 faced similar challenges during its launch. In fact, when the launches are aligned, the Xbox 360 and PS3 appear to be selling at an equivalent rate. Of course, with the immense amount of negativity surrounding the PS3 from the gaming media, will sales be hurt during this crucial holiday season? The price drop and release of games, such as Ratchet & Clank, will help Sony hopefully keep pace with its major rival.

I dont think Ratche&Clank gonna have a big effect on thesales of the PS3 i think games like FF13 MGS4 and GT5 due to the fact that it doesnt really have a big fan poll

Thats the key...selling as much as PS3 without ANY competition is a failure...

Ps3 has 3 AAAs and costs significantly more, 360 has 10 AAAs. Now imagine how much Ps3 will sell when more games come out and the price go down.

360 keeping up with Ps3 is as pathetic as Sony and analysts expecting the Ps3 to sell in Ps2 rates just by having the PLAYSTATION logo in the shell.

360 has 100% failure rate, and it still sells bundles :)

MS was heavily supply-constrained for the first semester... something the PS3 didn't really suffer for more than a month.

And even if you wish to disregard that, does this mean the Ps3 will always be behind the 360? I mean, it's doing now what the 360 did last year ...

There isn't a suply problem now, there is a massive library of dozens of AA+ titles and the core unit costs amost as little as a Wii.

What's the excuse for 360 not beating the Wii, since this one is actually suply contrained and doesn't have one tenth of 360's AA+ count?

360 only sold 12 million in 2 years so far. PS3 has sold 5 million in about a year. They are hardly doing that badly.

okay, if people bought 20,000 oven-mitts on amazon.com the sales would be up 2000% because oven-mitt sales were so low. If a certain item was selling a few items a day, and one week it sold a few hundred for a few days the sales are going to be up a ridiculous percentage.

It tells us that when the PS2 came out, it was alone and when PS3 came out, it was competing with 360 which had a year head start. You're ignorant to think that 360 has already won or that ps3 wont catch up

Sales are swell and all...

But even if the PS3 had 20 million units sold at this point in time...the 360 would still have the most AAA and AA games. Which, by Gamespot rules, means it's "winning" this console war.

I'm a gamer. I like games. I can't play "sales". I'd take good games over having a system with X amount of systems sold any day. But have a console that sells well doesn't hurt either :)

But I digress...I just love my 360 and I couldn't be happier with it and it's a good time to be a 360/PC gamer. (And Wii soon :) )

What week are we on for the PS3? 40-something? While history does not always repeat itself, I think you should take a look at the following chart:

At 42 weeks, the PS2 is not dramatically outselling XBox and GC. It went on to dramatically outsell the competition. All I'm saying, is that being on par in these terms may not be enough to save the console. I personally think the year head start was a major factor in the PS2 winning the last generation, as it meant it got the installed base first, and confidence from third party publishers. The XBox 360 may have a similar edge. Though, things may change with the new SKU, but I put my bets on XBox beating PS this time around, with Wii coming in first.
