This is for North American sales (NPD)

Assuming no new sku hits this year and they stay pat of their current pricing. Predict away.

  • November -
  • December -

Hypothetical situation. Sony ships a 40 gig sku by early November for $400. It has wifi , it has 2 less usb ports , and it has a free movie packed-in. Then they reduce the price of the 60 gig and 80 gig Motorstorm bundle by ~ $50 each.

  • November -
  • December -

Basically , what kind of impact will it really have ? Remember .... " the ps3 has no games ".

It'll definitely move some units..I would probably take the plunge with the 40 gig...I wouldn't say the PS3 has no games, but they certainly lack the punch that a 600 dollar system needs to compete with a 250 dollar juggernaught and a 400 dollar system with a superior library...

Regardless of what happens, next year will certainly be a better year for Sony. All the pieces are starting to fall into place..

No games.. Sorry the system just won't sell without games.. Top that off with Halo 3 and Mass Effect .. You can pretty much forget about the PS3 doing anything.. matter of fact I predict the Wii and the 360 to each increase by about 2 million consoles easily.. with the 360 improving it's position by a slightly better margin due to the game line up the 360 has atm.

Who cares because according to you guys MS is lurking behind every curtain destroying the PS3. Thus, according to you guys, if the sales numbers are low it is because MS bribed someone.

If they bring out the 40GB SKU this November, I'd say between 500-600k in the US for each month.

And without any price drop, and just the 80GB, maybe 200 - 300K for eah month.

Historically , December sales are usually around double Novemeber's sales. And again , the second situation is hypothetical. What impact would it really have ? Would you like to put a percentage of increase or or a numbers of unit increase or will it stay the same and have no effect ?

Thats my point.. Why does anyone think the PS3 will sell more consoles when it has no games.. The 360 has games and outsells it 2:1 right now..Now that Halo 3 is out plus, Mass Effect, PGR4, Bioshock.. The 360 is poised to spike sales this Xmas..

When Sheep use sales to show the that they are winning the system wars they are told that sales don't actually matter.... well isn't this a double standard? Why would it matter if the PS3 sold? If sales don't matter in the system war. I thought it was just about good games.

With a price drop it will do some good, but not enough IMO. Whats the draw? Are any big exclusives coming out this fall that people who dont already own a PS3 are just waiting for? And the big one, GTA4, what if the momentum totally shifts to the 360 instead of the PS3?

I am not sure where you are from , but November and December are considered holiday months and systems 9 times out of 10 a system will see a big increase in sales.

Keep this thread alive after the next few months for me.. Seriously.. I would love to see the results from this year considering what the PS3 offers as opposed to the 360 line up this year.:D

This is more about the ps3 than it is the 360. Will the 360 and Wii have an impact on the ps3 sales ? Sure , but this is about what the ps3 is going to sell and what people think it could sell hypothetically if Sony does a couple of things.

$400 PS3 will definitly sell well. It competes the price of the 360, and there are plenty of good games coming out this fall for it. The 360 will also do well simply because of Halo and Mass Effect, however, not THAT well because people simply don't trust it anymore. The damn thing seems to be a ticking time bomb. But I have had a 360 for 1.5 years and it's still running great!

The PS3 as of now is doing just fine and in the near future there will most likely be a couple of sleeper games comeing out that we don't even know about at the moment. Also there are things being done with the PSP and PS3 that have never been done on a gameing console like remote play (I think there has been a feature added to the PSP that can reconfigure the contols to allow for more games to be played on it via remote play). The other game console doesn't even have a way of doing this or even close to this at this time.
