http://www.psu.com/Hirai--12-million-PS3s-sold-in-Europe-over-Xmas-News--a0002495-p0.php

Yes that is HALF A MILLION more than the amount sold in the USA.

I get the feeling i'm never going to convince alot of you Europe is a market just as large as the USA.(More DS's and wiis were also sold in Europe than the USA in December but ATM I can't find the link I had.)

On a side note there are also more life time to date sales of ps3's than x-boxes in Germany,Italy and Spain(according to a Eurogamer report) with the French figures being almost the same for both consoles (x-box is around 15,000 units ahead acording to a Eurogamer report).

Yes I did realise that but I think its common knolege that the PAl ps3 figures are higher than the USA figures for last year by around a million units, and when you consider it wasn't on sale for the first three months.

BTW this isn't a "the x-box is teh failz" its more of an open your eyes the USA isn't as great as you think.

It's also here on Eurogamer. Eurogamer also say that Sony is unlikely to meet its target of 11 million PS3's shipped by March. "Analysts" thinka figure of 8 million is more likely. I thought they'd already sold more than 8 million, or did I imagine that? Maths is hard.

Ah, thought I'm pretty sure the US still outranks europe when it comes to Overall Dollars(Money) spent on the videogame market. All it means is that US consumers are more fickle with their brand loyalty than other regions? Or perhaps because MS is a local company we are more open to support it? Just like any other country would.

Trust me, as long as you don't live in the south, Most of us are quite aware of our failures as of late :P

That same article also projects the PS3 will only sell 8 million consoles by the end of March 2008.

1.2 million in Europe or no...8 million is a very low number for 16 months.

Pretty sure the article said anaylst(grain of salt) expected the 360 to shift more units this year than the ps3. Could be wrong, but doesn't that mean more sold(cough..shipped)? And 8-10 million units isn't an easy number to overcome.

Those arn't life time to date sales there sales for the fiscal year of March2007-March2008. I think, I could be wrong.

Yes, North America buys the most hardware and software.

Last generation Europe bought around the same amount of Playstation 2s, but North America carried the Xbox and Gamecube on it's back while they were all but ignored in Europe and Japan.

Europe hasn't sold more Wiis, as shipments were always allocated to the US, as it is seen as a more important market.

But they buy more DSs, PS3s and PSPs.

Curious numbers, roughly the same that VGcharts has if we sum the weekly sales during december. I guess VGcharts is somewhat accurate after all.
