I dunno how you could possibly deny this. This isn't even my opinion, it's a real fact. VGCharts graphs proves that PS3 sells better than the X360...

Europe : We already know it. 600000 consoles in 2 days

America : http://www.vgcharts.org/aconscomps.php?name1=PS3&name2=X360&type=2&align=0

Japan : http://www.vgcharts.org/japconscomps.php?name1=PS3&name2=X360&type=2&align=0

But the Wii probably beats that, except in Europe.

Even if it continued at it's current rate, 360 would still have a much larger market share.

It doesn't matter, though, unless the current rate of PS3 sales surpasses the current rate of 360 sales (i.e. starts to catch up). It will never catch up merely surpassing last year's 360 sales.

I dunno.... it's possible. But imagine how PS3 will sell when it'll get a price drop + games + Home. Anything can happen

The 360 will get price drop + better games. (And retain the superior online)

funny cos in america the 360 was sold out until april, whereas the PS3 is in stock and is barely on track wth the 360's numbers. I wonder what it would be like if the 360 was readily avalible in January like it PS3 was

Doesn't change the fact that the PS3 is still showing pretty good sales numbers thus far.

The other systems also see big titles relased around that time.

I was thinking the exact same thing. Hopefully it will, though I doubt it. PS3 needs more good games, more good exclusive games to be released.

Well, right now it isn't the total sales that are a Sony issue, it's the rate of sales. They still haven't surpassed the rate of 360 sales.

? That's wishful thinking. I only see a price drop if sales for the PS3 get really bad. Killer app, possibly Ninja Gaiden Sigma (even if it is a remake) and Heavenly Sword. Warhawk seems fun and Lair seems decent as well, although I doubt they will score AAA. I just pray PS3 games get better.

Sorry to bust your bubbles,

but the PS3 is still doing very bad.

It'll only get worse this year when the 360's heavy hitters come out....

Thats not the issue at all. The problem lies with Microsoft not selling with its cheaper premium. PS3 600 - 360 premium 400 thats $200 more and Ps3 is selling amazing.

wow......th PS3 is outselling the 360 even without amazing AAA/killer app titles (resistance/oblivion/motorstorm/vf5 are good.....but 2 aren't exclusive, resistance/motorstorm areAA)....I can't wait to see the sale trends when games like white knight story, ffxiii, kh3, zo3, mgs4, monster hunter 3, heavenly sword, lair, ninja gaiden sigma, and littlebigplanet get released....

LOL the PS2 is even beating the 360 sales last I heard.

Regardless of the "Why", whether it be price, lack of games, or whatever, the fact remains that the 360 is still outselling the PS3 on a per-month basis. The PS3 can't catch up or even close the gap without surpassing the 360's per-month sales.

i think ps3 sales will plummet in the summer, 360 will be stagnant rising when NCAA and Madden come out and the Wii will continue to sell like crazy, especially because it is coming in heavy shipment this month

By the end of the generation PS3 will have beaten 360 and wii and still going strong with the PS3 for another 2 more years like its predecessors. And you can't say the next-gen is over because of the Elite being released on April and claim 1st place of the next.. next.. gen. lolo lol:lol:

Um no statistcs do show that the 360 sold more in the launch and if u love the PS3 why the hell would u have a Halo 2 pic, be a real sony fanboy and have MGS there, btw speculation is even saying the PS3 MIGHT lose its one most beloved exclusive MGS, IGN even said it is possible can someone get a link im too lazy

Yup, now it gets interesting. I'm sure the PS3 sales will outpace the 360 for at least 2 or 3 months. Will it continue after the initial launch customers begin to die down? I'm not sure, I think it's totally up in the air. Regardless, the next few months will be very interesting indeed.

sigh, it irritates me when people seem to forget the 360 has been out a hell of a lot longer than the ps3...

They didn't forget. They just enjoy using faulty statistics.

Speculation can say anything. I can speculate that Halo 3 will give everyone cancer.

Xbox 360 had a worldwide launch.

PS3 only had a week of european numbers for that total.

360 has sold more, and by the end of the generation it will have sold more. if sony loses they cant say "bu but they weree outt longerr!!!!11!1!1"

360 has sold more therefore, 360 is winning.

All that really matters is that the 360 is in first, Wii second, and PS3 third. /thread.

Look, guys. The point I have been trying to make for the past couple of months is: Launch numbers are absolutly irrelevant.

They don't matter. At all.

Sure there are examples of a console that sold well at launch that went on to be successful. BUT there are just as many (if not more) that were not succesful.

Give EACH console AT LEAST a year before drawing your conclusions. Even at that time it's too early to truly make a proper guess.

Wow numbers what are you trying to imply? Are those sell through numbers? You don't know yet but I'm sure you will find out. So if I was in the same frame of mind as you looking at these numbers you can say as soon as the intial launch and holiday demand was met there was a sharp drop in sales compared to that of the Xbox 360. There are alot of ownerless PS3's sitting on shelves here in the states. The other thing being that for November through January its more of an issue of production than demand. Feb is a pretty accurate of actual future sales potential. I am sure you will continue to see that drop continue in March. As for Japan they have not been accepting of american consumer products historical. Does it really mean anything? No. Japan is not a parallel market for the domestic developers . Do you think the japanese publishers will turn down a far more excepting american market which is significantly represented by Xbox 360 owners? No. While the japanese consumer might have some strong nationalist sentiment I assure you in business they like us worship the almighty dollar (DMC 4 anyone?). Don't get me wrong despite the lackluster lineup of software it launched with and the pricing/hardware configuration that completely ignores their demographic the PS3 will be successful but don't let yourself be fooled the Xbox 360 has owned and will continue to own the PS3 in the US where its matters.

And the Playstation brand (consoles) has been owning Nintendo for 2 decades and Xbox for a decade.

I think you meant that the Playstation brand has been beating the Nintendo brand for 1 decade and the XBox brand of half a decade (a decade is 10 years, roughly equal to 2 generations).

This chart shows a better picture.  360 is outselling ps3 every month though the ps3 is doing better than the 360 when it launched but remember 360 did a world wide launch, had the ps3 tried this they would of sold less.

In the ps3's defense it has had some supply issues at launch, but that shouldn't of effected jan/feb sales.
