Why did sony underestimate demand so badly for the PS3 slim go check any online Amazon, Newegg, Buy.com and even Target and it isn't available online. I tried a store check for Target and there was limited or no availibity at some of the stores I checked. Walmart only has bundled PS3 so I couldn't find a way to check inventory there. This problem also persisted last month and might be more of a reason why the PS3 sold less than the 360. If the PS3 was available I'm sure it would have outsold the 360.

Sony is really doing a bad job as shown by these shortages. I'm sure they aren't doing it on purpose to create demand. I really think they underestimated the popularity of that the PS3 slim was going to have. I mean for a company whose goal it is to hit 13 million for their fiscal year you would think that they would forecasted this a whole lot better. I guess they thought they were going to get burned if they made to many. Sony really needs to get the PS3 in the marketplace to compete with the 360 install base or otherwise they are going to fail. Does anyone else see this as another potential big mishap like the PSP go. Well not that bad but definitely works with the horrible Sony business model. LOL.

Also here is some articles supporting the low supply in the US and UK:

Haha. Just frustrated that Sony makes some bad business decisions. I mean I would have to say that Microsoft is run better than sony from paying for online to buying exclusive games from 3rd parties to having a HD that only can be upgraded from them. I guess sony is fine with staying in third. I just not sure even Sony knows what direction they want to go at times.

Well I was talking online only but did say most of the target stores I looked at didn't have them in stock. Not all but a lot of them. I'm not saying you can't find them but a lot of people like to buy them online due to convenience and not having to pay taxes. Alot of people don't go to stores anymore to buy electronics. You can find the 360 in abundance at all of those online sites.

I said online not at B&M. Online buying is how people are purchasing most expensive electronics nowadays due to savings and convenience.

So Sony shortages mean they are bad at business...but how many times has MS reported shortages? Hell, wasn't it last year this exact same time that MS was reporting shortages when Sony was beating them in sales? Meanwhile lemmings were dancing with joy because shortages meant there was way more demand for the 360.

Man, the circular firing squad of fanboys on SW never ceases to amaze me. I don't care what side you are on.

Well since I only own 3 PS3's(PSN thirdbass) and a wii which I never play and a PC I just got I wouldn't call be a MS fanboy at all. Actually I would never buy a 360. I'm just fustrated that the PS3 isn't selling better and a lot of it is reflected in how Sony is managing the business. Of course the more popular the PS3 gets the more exclusive content we get as well at better support from 3rd party developers.

Really?

I got mine for $250, brand new before the official release date.

I think it was supposed to be late September, but they were everywhere at the beginning of September/Late August.

totally subjective because sony's 1st party obliterates m$ and the ds3 is way too superior for fighting games
