Does the psp screen really have a resolution that can take advantage of bluray? Otherwise, it's a pretty cool feature, I guess.

Thats pretty cool, but how does a 25-50gb movie fit to a portable device? Either they expect you to have one hell of a memory card, or the movie is extremely compressed, leading me to wonder just how long it will take to rip and transcode these movies.

Its cool but not altogether new. One of the more obscure selling points of HD DVD was the ability to maintain a digital copy that can be streamed to other capable devices.

Still, its good to see Sony taking full advantage of PS3 PSP connectivity. This is way cooler stuff than when Nintendo was pushing GBA/Gamecube connectivity.

probably not, but you figure this would allow you to just pop in a blu ray movie you own, and toss in on the psp without much fuss, instead of ripping and converting, or downloading one

Or I could just spend $100 and buy a portable DVD player.

Honestly, who watches that many movies on a PSP?

There should be a harddrive for the PSP.. These memory sticks are not cutting it.

I don't know much about Blu-Ray movies but they are of a higher file size then DVD. So how big of a memory stick would you need on your PSP to download a Blu-Ray movie?

you know what? this isn't looking so cool anymore. it'll probably require a 16GB memory stick. and do you guys have any idea how long it would take to transfer a movie of any size? 20 or 30 minutes. maybe more.

idunno how much mileage I'd actually get out of this.

Because people need any reason, no matter how stupid it is, to justify overspending on a console that has yet to fulfill most of its promises.

Hmmm, assuming the ps3 compresses the movies, opposed to having a stored 480x272 copy on the blu-ray, it will be interesting to see how quickly the ps3 can compress these movies.

nice way to try to get away from my point, not everyone has an internet connection, or a computer, and any free feature is better than no features.warmaster670

And those people are not gamers that are looking to put Blue-Ray movies onto their PSPs.

You can make your argument all day.

That doesn't make it any less ridiculous.

The simple fact that someone owns a PS3 + a PSP means they are willing to spend money on the latest technology/media-centric technologies.
To even suggest they don't have a computer is laughable at best.

This is going to be sweet, obviously the movies won't be the same quality as 1080p, but it's going to be nice for trips to load up a few movies on your PSP before you go.
