PS3 To Win GTA IV War?

Videogame analysts and experts interviewed by Reuters think the PlayStation 3 will win big when Grand Theft Auto IV is release.

"This is one game that has the potential to move some hardware," Bob McKenzie, senior vice president of merchandising for video-game retail chain GameStop Corp said.

"So many people who owned the PS2 went into PlayStation family because of 'GTA'. The release of 'GTA4' could expedite their decision to upgrade," said Edward Williams, an analyst with BMO Capital Markets.

Michael Pachter was similarly bullish on the PS3: "I think PS3 'wins' this battle," Pachter said.

Same. :( I had planned on getting the 360 version actually then what happens, playing some team deathmatch on COD4 and the 3 red rings of death show up so now I have to send the stupid system in for repairs. 3rd time I have gotten the RROD, first time I cannot fix it myself. :(

i'm considering to buy a next-gen console now that GTAIV is coming. it's PS3 or nothing. blu-ray support and more powerful hardware justify a little higher price. it's just that i'd have to buy a full hd tv too to enjoy PS3 graphics, so just might stick with pc gaming for now. well see.

according to IGN GTAIV runs littlebit better on PS3, and looks a littlebit better too. wich should be obvious.

Im playing on an SD, so if you want pics or anything ask me and I can give you. It looks amazing in an SD so dont feel restrained about getting either a 360 (was my first current gen console) or a PS3 (my current console). The only problems you may get is from some games that have crappy font which makes it harder to read as Timeshift or Dead Rising

yeah i guess i could live with it for a while. i'm getting full hd eventually though. but it's still gonna be PS3 cos of bluray and the juicy hardware. just to be more futureproof while i'm at it.

I think the PS3 version will sell more, although I'm going to be buying it for the 360 :P

I know you NA guys thing the PS3 is ever so popular in Europe, but in the UK at least, the PS3 is not doing very well at all. Hardly anyone has one, shops have less space dedicated to them and some shops dont even sell them or ps3 games...

I own a PS3 and will get GTA IV for the PS3, however the 360 version will stomp the PS3 version software wise. Looking at NPD alone you can see the insane software sales garnered by 360 owners and not so much from PS3 owners.

I don't know call it a hunch. NPD April will be a telling sign. Granted, PS3 version in Europe will sell more maybe? The NA sales of GTA for 360 will crush world wide sales.

Then again, if a huge flock of people end up buying a PS3 solely for GTA IV, then who knows.

My money is on GTA IV 360 for world wide sales leader.

i think piracy will hurt 360 sales of this game and help the ps3 to sell more....plus with the current buzz around the net that the ps3 has small things that are reported to be better that will also help them shift more copies plus ps3's...

just dont tell them 95% of multiplats suck.....;)
