Most perform the same.

Yet the PS3 version may sometimes require 1-4 gigs of installation where as the 360 version doesnt, and requires maybe a couple megabytes to save your game.

A mandatory install to get roughly the same performance as the 360 counterpart says something.............

the Ps3 uses the HDD because the BluRay drive isn't capable to read all the data that fast from the disc itself. It increases performance and decreases loading times

If installs make performance a tiny bit better and take space of the blu-ray laser fine for me!

I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure the only reason the ps3 needs the mandatory installs is because the blu ray drive only reads at 2x. I personally hate that it has to install, but I guess it's no big deal.

That being said though, I never buy multiplatform games for my ps3 that I have any intention of playing online with.

killerfist

even so. The PS3 basically drains your hardrive at a considerable faster pace then 360. And that claim says something about the "value" of bluray in a console.

I'm not really sure you can hold blu ray at fault here. There's nothing wrong with the format, it was just a very poor design decision when Sony concieved of the ps3's architecture to have a drive that reads at such a slow speed. As much as I love my 360, I do believe that Blu Ray is a necessary step forward for videogames as they become larger and their budgets increase.

I agree with you on that. That's a first. The installations are a huge pain imo.

I have a feeling that they included a BluRay player way too fast. They should've waited for them to get cheaper (faster).

When I unwrap a game, I want to play it. I don't want to wait 3-5 minutes(average) for the game to install.

yes. but its an option.

PS3 forces you. And if you need the space and are forced to delete some installs, your forced to re-install if you want to return to that game. With 360, it runs no matter what you do.

Im trying to prove a point that PS3 gives you an unecessary hastle.

That doesn't make any sense, most of 360 owners say an advantage of having a 360 is that you just put the disc and start playing, without having to install anything (which i agree completely). But everyone is so wet with the release of the install feature that is going to be released.

I own both consoles and always buy multiplats for the Xbox360. The controller, XBL, and features (like custom soundtracks) just just better on Xbox360, IMO.

Installs mean shorter load times and maybe an slight increase in performance.

Blu-ray isn't fas enough to stream, all ps3's have HDD, installs take about 10 min(at most), they don't bother me :P

Devs do it because they choose to, Uncharted had no load times and no install, that says something.

Because Sony forces installs on all developers, right? *looks at 1st party game with forced installs* Hmmmmmm. I guess R2 is it, the rest of the 1st parties were optional if memory serves.

360 multiplats >>>>> PS3 multiplats

- When the PS3 is the main platform they look identical but when the 360 is main platform all of us know what happens

- Instalations on PS3 versions is the only way to make them look closer

- (IMO) 360 controller is better

- Live is better than PSN

The multiplats all look the same unless you play very near to your TV and then you see a very, very small difference.

How at all does it "force" installs? Plenty of games don't require one.

Developers are choosing to take advantage of hardware that they know will always be present, something they can't do on the 360 since there's no guarantee of a HDD.

Since you seem to like your OPTION. OPTIONAL or NOT is the same thing if you're going to use it anyways dumba##. There are only 2 choices: You like installs or you don't. All the games that have mandatory install on PS3 is because of the lenght of the loading without it or to help with performance, games that you would probably use that option.

So, it makes no point for you to mention that 100% OPTIONAL if you're going to use it anyways. I can go with the installation process and when i'm done, delete that data and keep my save file for further uses as every 360 owner probably will do with heavy games.

Also, some games offer 100% OPTIONAL installs on PS3 too, and you don't have to install 9 GB you will on 360, just a part, like Ninja Gaiden Sigma and Soul Calibur IV. I personally don't like installs, i'll buy a 360 to play multiplatform games that have mandatory installs on PS3, but if it's not mandatory, i'll go buy it for PS3 if there's online gaming to play free

AWW....did I hurt your feelings a bit??

Some PS3 games require you to install to the HDD before the game will boot up and that is not OPTIONAL. No Xbox360 will require an install because the HDD is not mandatory.

FYI: I own both consoles! :D

Yeah, cows seem to miss the point that Xbox360 installs will be 100% OPTIONAL. MS isn't forcing us to install one bit

Your post made no sense. Just random ramblings.

Who is to say I would use the OPTIONAL install? I will probably rarely ever use it.

Uh, i think you're the one who didn't read. Just because the option of ripping 360 games to your hard drive will exist very soon with the new update doesn't refute the fact that it's still an optional feature to implement for those interested in doing it. The PS3 has no such optional feature, which is what he was getting at.

I said that because of the guy who said "yes, me and me people will openly welcome the *option* to install our games.". It's safe to asume that guy is going to use it, right? Why get so wet about an *option* if you will rarelly use it? Its not like "OH YEAH, 360 WILL HAVE OPTIONAL INSTALL!!! I WILL ONLY USE IT IN 1 GAME THOUGH"

The thing is, most of 360 owners see the upcoming feature as a great deal when they say the PS3 sux because you have to install in many games. Optional or not, using it is what it is, an install, and not 450 mb or even 5 gb, its like 7 - 9 GB for the 360 games

Most perform the same.

Yet the PS3 version may sometimes require 1-4 gigs of installation where as the 360 version doesnt, and requires maybe a couple megabytes to save your game.

A mandatory install to get roughly the same performance as the 360 counterpart says something.............

-General_Ram-

instal for quicker load time. Plus i dont get the problem, its a instal, so what if it takes 3gigs, i got like 80 to spare, not to mention i can pay 100 bucks or 50 (off the truck) to get 300gig...

Its different formats and they require different things..it sometimes gets annoying, but i dont mind
