Alright, here's my main beef lately.

How come if a cow gets ripped on because the PS3's first-year software is weak, they say "Well, this is PS3's first year, so it should be compared with 360's first year, not it's second." But, when sales numbers are brought up, 360's first year doesn't matter. PS3 sold almost a million more this year, and that's all that matters? It shouldn't go both ways. I say either choose to compare year for year, or where the consoles stand right now.

If you want to say PS3 sold more than 360 this year, then that's cool. Just accept the fact that 360 is destroying the PS3 in the number of quality games this year also. :)

Doesn't really matter in the end, fact is that the 360 has sold more/is selling more than the PS3. Next gen started the moment a next gen console got on the market, it's Sony's fault they were a year/year and a half late to the party.

That's my logic. You can say year for year all you want, but the fact is that the 360 has more consoles sold, and has a higher number of quality games.

Do you not seem to realize the inherent flaw in that argument. PS3 is outselling 360 this year, boasting little more then blu ray, even with all your AAA games. You just basically said that even though we've got all these great games we still lost out on console sales. Now let me pose a question what happens when PS3 starts to get more or just as many AAA titles as 360?

Nope Wii Destroyed 360 and PS3 both sales wise and games wise(number of games). 360's got some pretty good games and it is odd that after the first year the 360 sold 7 million and PS3 is on pace to sell close to more than that. In my opinion theres many people out there who loved there PS1 and PS2 and just can't afford a PS3 but not everyone jumps on a bandwagopn cause a team wins a Super Bowl or World Series. If so all 360 owners should go to wii based on sales. I myself like waiting till the end of a game to talk about whos the better team. Sony once made great AAA Quality games there no reason to think they won't be able to pull of a few with there experiance.

In 2010 Conales sales after December 25 will be 40 million to 40 million for Xbox and PS3 and Wii 75 million+(Sales based on If a huge price drop were to happen to all consoles) then Nintendo Will Upgrade the Wii with the same technoligy as PS3 and 360 with Motion Controls, with a retail of 259 and people will say the Wii2 Graphics suck. Go figure this is the game industry.

The Wii is the wildcard of this gen and it's hard to see where it's future lies.

On one hand, the bubble could burst and sales will stagnate in a year or two due to consumers just being "over it", or more enticed by the enhanced graphcs of the 360/PS3.

On the other, the Wii could continue to sell as well as it has been and be a major success, but it'd also be a double-edge sword for Nintendo who will be forced to support the system for much longer than they probably anticipated, less they face the wrath of 20 million housewives.

In any case, it will be interesting to see the outcome.

As a PS3 owner I agree that we should compare the consoles as they are now since that is what is presented to the consumer. But you cannot discard the past as it indicates certain things in the future. It would be entirely reasonable to say that the PS3 will most likely have a good dose of high quality games in its second year since the 360 had a huge influx of great games after developers got used to the hardware. But that does not change the fact that the PS3 is approaching the holiday season with only about half-a-dozen high quality exclusives compared too two dozen or so on 360.

It is interesting how the 360 sales have slumped off so much in the second year but that is most likely because of the hardware problems. Most console at least maintain their rate of sales, but I guess in this situation the exception proves the rule.

I know and thats to avoid the truth. same reason no one brings up PC either. Lemmings only care if the 360 beats the PS3. it's like the Yankees and Red Sox fans only caring about the games the other teams play against each other. Sony never came out with a bang. it always took the PS 2 or more years to start selling because of huge price ranges for the economy.

Example the PS1 was $299 on launch and thats about $399 compared to todays cost of living. it took years for the PS1 to knock off the N64 and Saturn. the worst selling periods for a console are usally the first year. PS2 this year outsold what it sold it's first year and i don't even have to look at data to confim that.
