PS3 vs 360 Sales Since 2007

The years that both the PS3 and 360 have been out the PS3 has outsold the 360 by over 3 million worldwide to date. The PS3 has increasingly outsold the 360 each year since it's release, but at a slow rate. This brings the lead to currently 3.8 million for 360. This means that the 360 had sold around 7 million it's first year out with no competition by the Wii or PS3. If the PS3 continues to outpace the 360 increasingly in each 2011 and 2012 as it has done in it's first 4 years then the PS3 will finish ahead of 360 before the end of this generation.

Yes it's from VG Chartz, but analysts with other companies have also said this. PS3 has been slowly eating away that 1 year headstart lead that the 360 got.

I could tell you to look at the North American numbers that show the 360 outselling the PS3, even widening its lead, but then I'd be diving into these sales figures arguments that I really despise....

Sales figures are meaningless unless they are so skewed as to affect whether games will be made for one console. That's not the case, and will never be the case for the 360 or PS3 (at least until the next gen consoles are released). Both are doing fine and companies will continue to make great games for both.

I just don't get the focus on sales figures in System Wars. It's not like anyone here get's something extra if the 360 outsales the PS3, or vice versa, so what's the point? I mean, it's interesting to see where the market is at, but beyond that, who cares?

Regardless, 360 almost always wins in NA, which is what is focused on soo heavily here. World Wide, ps3 is about to win. Honestly, I stopped caring 2 years ago, lolz. They're both great systems to own.

PS3 is still last get over it dude , even if it takes over SECOND PLACE the XBOX brand has accomplished it's goal. Do you understand this ?, the Playstation brand went from total dominance to struggling for SECOND PLACE. There is NOTHING Playstation can do to change this.

has the ps3 passed the 360 world wide in software sales and hardware sales totals yet? they haven't? okay then when they do get back to me and I'll tell you if it means anything...If they had managed the feet by last year or even this year then it meant something...if it takes another 2 years then it means nothing.

Your own source has the 360 outselling the PS3 in both 2007 and 2008. So, WTF are you talking about? Perhaps you should read your own source again and understand what it says before you post inaccuracies.

Threads like this are basically the equivalent of a person sticking their fingers in their ears and singing loudly. You can spin the argument i whatever way you see fit, but 2005 and 2006 did happen (I have proof:P ), and the truth is that the PS3 is still in 3rd place and will be for at least another year. But when it finally does pass the 360, what happens? I think the statute of limitations on "I told you so" will have expired by then, no?

at this point i dont think sales really matter. ps3 will pass 360 by mid next year, but the wii is still number 1.HailCaesarHail
