[QUOTE="vashkey"]I honestly think it's pretty ridiculous people call games that score an 8.5/10 a flop. I don't care if it didn't meet some supposed expectations, it still scored well. And counting Ninety Nine Nights 2? Who honestly expected that game to do well? Even counting Crackdown 2 as a flop doesn't seem all that reasonable when most people thought at the highest it'd get like an 8. I didn't very high expectations. The word flop means something significantly under performs from it's expectations. a .5 difference is no significant.CaseyWegner
a flop here means a game that didn't meet its hype. no need to bring in outside definitions.

The real definition of flopping is a game receiving slightly lower scores than what some fanboys perceived? Thats new to me.[QUOTE="CaseyWegner"][QUOTE="vashkey"] I don't care about system wars twisting definitions of words. I'm going with the real definition. vashkey

Ya flop just sounds like it makes it bad game. But Most flops are good just not as good as they could've been.[QUOTE="rangegear"]
Anyone got a Gamers dictionary? We could really use one.
XaosII
Would this dictionary define "Exclusive" as "found only on one platform, except when its also on the PC, then it doesn't count?"
I dont know....I dont have a Gamers Dictionary![QUOTE="rangegear"]

there's no system wars definition of exclusive. the same definition that is used outside of the forum also applies here.
[QUOTE="KevinButlerVP"][QUOTE="CaseyWegner"]
okay. when a situation like this arises it's a good sign that you might just be wrong and need to find a different word or phrase. "a lot" is clearly not the right thing to use here.
your right, to make myself more clear I will say %100 of 360 exclusives have floppedit's too late. we already know that only means two games so whatever impact you were hoping to have is now lost.
the point was 2/2 360 exclusives have flopped, not sure what you mean by impactI personally enjoy playing those Wii games a lot of you seemed to leave out of the picture. Except Sonic series for Wii. Those leave me sad. I love the library on the Wii mainly because i can get all those N64/Genesis/SNES games without actually having to dig out and set up the system. Toe Jam and Earl, Kid Chameleon, SSB, Super Castlevania, and more all one system and at my fingertips. Lets not forget the game cube games I can play as well as the all ready awesome Wii games. Although not exclusive, i think the Wii has a nice library.

I think the Wii has an Incredible Library. I found a lot of Games for the Wii when making my new Blog.
But that doesn't mean that the Other Systems don't have bad Libraries. All 3 systems have great Libraries.
Unless I buy a PS3 again, my consolegaming is pretty much over for this year. I have a Wii and an Xbox, but nothing really stands out for me there, aside from Metroid maybe.
This year started well with ME2, but has become pretty poor. Games like GOW, and the more recent AW and crackdown have let me down, big time
I'll still have some fun on my PC though, i'll give strarCraft a go (Get owned) then quit.

The huge amount of games both consoles get (exclusives, multiplats, flops, whatever) make them both look extremely well.

something not liviing up to the hype isn't a disappointment?the wii has obviously the best and the biggest library of games ,
for the non believers
games include heck might as well list my collection and go from there
i think thats all my retail and wii ware games id have to look again , but i know thats most of them
that does not include my 50-60 vc games
or the games below i intended to buy but never got to it
or they have yet to be released
so ya , there is plenty to go around for wii all in a variety of different genres also dkc4 is coming
ps3 is starting to build an ok one , and 360 was good until 09 ,
so ya i dont think anything can beat wiisp lus gc n64 snes nes genesis sms neo geo tg16 c64 wiiarcade/ware punch

no. that's not part of the definition.
something not liviing up to the hype isn't a disappointment?not always.
Wouldnt the definition for a "SW flop" simply be "did not achieve a numerical score equal to or better thanthe majority vote in the official hype thread"? Whether it is a dissapointment or not is simply subjective.

I would say that BOTH the fact that there have only been two 360 exclusives this year worthy of A or higher status (keeping in mind the year's already half over, and there's really only one or two hyped for the rest of the year) AND the fact that so far, ALL of said exclusives have failed to live up to the expectations of how well they would score would be disappointments.[QUOTE="CaseyWegner"]

How many threads over the past few days have been about the 3 consoles' libraries? it's getting a bit monotonous.

It's just a game about scores on an internet forum, there's no reason to be disappointed about it.

So far this year, there is absolutely nothing besides Crackdown (A) and A.Wake (AA) on the 360 that you need a 360 to play. The second or first best selling game of 2010 obviously.

If we're just talking exclusives... the Wii is the best with the PS3 right there, only because the Wii has Nintendo to make first party exclusives.
Can't really go wrong with the PS3's library. Having one of the best game of all time, Metal Gear Solid 4 being only 1 of 3 games to score perfect scores on the big three reviewers.
And having an abundance of AAA exclusives like Uncharted 2, LittleBigPlanet, Resistance 2, Killzone 2, God of War 3, inFamous etc.. proves its variety.
[QUOTE="locopatho"]Overall still about even imo. Recently tho the PS3 has been doing much better.rangegear
Agreed on that one.
I'll second that. While I prefer my 360, I've seen the PS3 start to gain a lot of momentum with some great exclusives. I just started playing Uncharted 2,and man was I blown away! Those graphics look extremely good! I've heard a lot of the PS3 fanboys tout the graphical dominance of that game, and I am starting to agree with them the more I play it. From its dynamic lighting, to its fantastic character models. That is one game that is worth purchasing a PS3 alone.Agreed and with all the new games coming out next year( inFamous 2,Twisted metal,Killzone 3) Its awesome. Can't really go wrong with the PS3's library.
