Which controller is better? Mostly I care about how the control sticks feel, so someone who has owned BOTH consoles, do FPS games feel easier to control on one then the other? Do the sticks on the PS3 become too loose?

I prefer 360 for FPS. Everything else, goes to PS3 (IMO). I don't play many FPS's, so I like the PS3 controller better.
same here, i never really had a problem with the dualshock untill i experienced the 360 controller, the dualshock is rubbish in comparison..360 controller is far better imo. I played with dualshock controller for about 10 years and only needed one week or so to realise that 360 was better.

I own all 3 consoles and a PC. Xbox 360 and PS3's controller are pretty similar. I preffer the PS3's controller, but I think you'll find that whichever one you've spent the most time with will be the one you like best. That said, I'm sorry but no controller as yet has been able to compare to keyboard and mouse for FPS games. When a FPS is multi-plat I tend to go with the PC but if I can't I'll go with PS3.

I dont think theyre similar at all. In fact, I think its time Sony revamped the dual shock. The 360 controller fits nicely in my hands and has a nice weight to it. I guess it all comes down to hand size.Of course you would say that. This anti-PS3 behaviour on message boards is really funny.360 controller is far better imo. Anyway, DualShock is one of the best gaming controllers ever created.
Both are excellent controllers.
Here are the gripes common to both controllers.
A lot of people say the D-pad is really bad on the 360 controller.
My friend's example:
*thinks*
Sweet, perfect time to use my C4, but I have to be quick
*night vision turns on*
What! No!

I will say on the PS3 controller the triggers aren't as nice, but I added these

And it's 100% better, infact I only bought one set and now we fight over who gets the controller with them.
Are there any specific reasons why you guys think the 360 controller is a lot better?brandontwbanalogue sticks are longer and have small dips in the top for extra grip, the triggers are actual triggers not sponges, the face buttons do not get stuck in, the controller is the perfect shape, size and weight.. the only thing that lets it down is the d pad, it gets the job done though
PS3 controller: light weight, smaller and easier to reach front buttons, better D-pad, thumbsticks are straight across from one another and move easily, and are rechargable.
360 controller: Bigger good for people with huge hands, uses AA batteries, the D-pad is rounded and makes it difficult to go the direction you want, and the thumbsticks are at an angle to each other.
I have used both and I like the PS3 controller better for my son and nephews, that it comes rechargable, the D-pad is made correctly, and the positioning of the thumbsticks.
the 360 controller is fine.. but im very used to ps3 controller.. because im using it since ps1 days.. they're the same anyways. :P
I hate this debate, because no one ever wins and 360 fanboys think their controller is better in every way when truthfully the only positives the 360 has are the analog sticks and the feel of the controller. The ps3 controller is by far more advanced in every other aspect.

It all comes down to preferences. There is no winner.

That is 100%, but when it comes down to which controller is technically better by being more advanced you must be a fool to say the 360 controller. Now which 1 you prefer? That's fine I don't even care which I use because they feel too similar to me although I love the PS3's pressure sensitive buttons.
I like the feel of the Xbox 360 sticks better and I think most people are saying that FPS games feel easier on it too.Which controller is better? ps3 controller is better because it has motion sensor.sethman410which is crap every time it's implemented in a game.

I own both a PS3 and 360, and to be honest, I think the PS3 controller is horrible. The sticks are too close together, the controller is too small, and it fits uncomfortably in my hands, and those wannabe "triggers" are awful.
The 360 controller, imo, is perfect with the exception of the terrible d-pad.
360 controller is the much better controller overall, especially for shooters. And the reason I buy ALL multiplats on the 360 is because of the controller. Plus, the fact that most multiplats are superior on 360 anyway is great, too. :D
But is it hard to play them with PS3 or does it just take some adjusting?I own both a PS3 and 360, and to be honest, I think the PS3 controller is horrible. The sticks are too close together, the controller is too small, and it fits uncomfortably in my hands, and those wannabe "triggers" are awful.

I think both are pretty good controllers. Can't really say one is better than the other for any particular reason.
The only thing I don't like about the Dualshock 3 is the awkward R2/L2 buttons, but they still function pretty well.
The only thing I don't like about the Xbox360 controller is the D-pad.
overall ps3, better face buttons, better sticks and much better dpad. x360 has great triggers and the hand grips feel better, the dpad is a joke and the sticks feel terrible compared to ps3. imprezawrx500Really? I prefer the concave design of the 360 sticks. I also like the face buttons, because the colors seem to make it easier for me when there are QTEs in a game. Like you said, the d-pad sucks, no denying that, but I rarely need to use it in any game I play, so it's not a big deal.
360
Pros: Good analogue placement, triggers are great, it's nice and big.
Cons: D-pad is horrible, uses batteries, shoulder buttons aren't that good, rounded face buttons, no button sensitivity
DS3
Pros: Good D-pad, rechargable, great shoulder buttons, sensitive and flat face buttons.
Cons: Placement of the analogues, triggers aren't so great.
Pretty even, tbh.
I think they are really similar, but heres my comparison:
Face Buttons- On PS3, the face buttons are flat and you can't slip so easily as with the 360's face buttons, which are also a bit smaller.
Secondary Triggers- It really depends on what you are playing on controls I guess, the PS3 triggers are great for shooters but the R2 and L2 buttons are a bit sensitive (they can have some small grips added underneath to reduce sensitivity though) while the 360's triggers have 2 small clicking buttons underneath the main triggers, which isn't a problem, but they the aren't pressure sensitive. I'll say prefer 360's triggerswithout PS3's triggergrips.
Primary Triggers- PS3's triggers are flat, which can allow for more rapid pressing in my opinion than the 360's slightly curved triggers, so I prefer the DS3 here.
D-Pad- This is obviously PS3, the 360 controlled makes the D-pad too sensitive to touch, so pushing down may also mean accidentally pushing left or right. The placement on PS3 is also much better, and makes games like Half-Life easier on weapon selection.
Analog sticks- While I prefer the location of the PS3's analog sticks, I do enjoy the concave 360 sticks. Both have slightly different heights which can affect sensitivity, 360 sticksbeing the shorter of the two.
Feel- The DS3 controller is a bit smaller and smoother than the 360 controller, but I do prefer the lack of stain marks on my 360 controller (since the DS3 is very smooth and polished, it can be prone to fingerprints).
Recharge- PS3 of course, the battery use of the 360 controller forces you to buy batteries to keep playing, PS3 easily allows you to charge while you play although the wire length is laughable.
Overall, I prefer the Dualshock 3 of my PS3, especially with grips.
God, this guy drives me crazy. Personally, I like the 360s better. I like the analog placement better, and the D3's sticks are just to wiggly. Last time i played CoD 4 on my friends PS3, I couldnt stand the analog sticks. But, at the end of it all, its all just personal opinion, and for some, fanboyism. ^^^For every genre, the PS3 is superior. ;)
