Price to play games on the Xbox 360: 299-480 dollars
Price to play games on the PS3: 499-599 dollars, if you actually consider the 20 gig an option.
A. Not all 360 buyers want the HD DVD drive.
B. 360 up front is 400, and X-Box live is 60 for a year. 60 dollars over 12 months is5 dollars a month, and even a 10 year old can make that much these days.X-Box live has a lot more games than the PSN, and considering the amount people pay monthly for MMOs, it's nothing. And even if you payed the 460ish to get the 360 and X-Box life, it's rather easy to get 60 dollars in a year, and is something that people really don't notice because it happens once a year.
lol my first account nice lie! and xbox live is playing games lol so add 50 bucks a year so y it comes out ot 600 nic trycdecrosta03
But buying a 360, live, and a game is still cheaper than just buying a PS3.
why do 360 fan boys always bring up the price? You have to much time on your hands.
360 $400 + 4 years of xbox live( u will most likely have it more) $200 +HD dvd palyer $200= $800 with 1080i (not p) no web browser and only 20 gb
PS3= $600 life time online $0 + blu ray $0= $600 1080i and 1080p and free web browser and 60gb (40 gb more than 360)
So u by getting 1080p web browser and 40gb extra u save $200!
So PS3 is better deal and for those of u who say u don't want HD dvd player it comes out to same price but u get free blu ray player on PS3 still 40gb extra and still free web browser. and i am being generious say u will only have xbox live for 4 years u will probably have it like 6-7 years.
I am not a fan boy just thought i would state some facts!
would love to here peoples opinion.cdecrosta03
why do 360 fan boys always bring up the price?well 360 can do 1080p, xbox live silver is free, we dont need HD-dvd playerand ill admit 360 needs a web browser. it all comes down to games and 360 is delivering more games. to game on 360 you probably need $320 dollars to game on ps3 you need $500 dollars. to use live and game you need $400. to game on ps3 you still need $500-$600. thats 100-200 dollar difference.
360 $400 + 4 years of xbox live( u will most likely have it more) $200 +HD dvd palyer $200= $800 with 1080i (not p) no web browser and only 20 gb

Here's how I see it, if you want all the add-ons like online, web browser, HD drive or blue-ray, cameras, whatever, then the price comes out to be about equal. The reason the 360's price is more appealing to more people is many of them don't want all the the extra stuff. I myself could care less if my system comes with a blue-ray player or a larger hardrive, to me its just added cost. Sorry I don't have Trump sized income, for me it comes down to the price and what I personally want to shell out cash for.D1STURBED0NE
Same for me.
xbox - $400 (cause the core is a joke)
ps3 - $600 (cause finding the 20gig one is a joke)
blu-ray vs dvd - not one single multiplat game developer has stated that they thought the 360 "needed' a larger disc drive, some multiplat developers have stated they having troubles with blu-ray (bethesda). Also ifyou buy a hd-dvd drive it's not going to be used for games. So the price of the Hd-drive is a non-issue
PSN vs XBL - playing online for free is great, but since there are a few games that don't/won't have online for the ps3 and do have online for the 360 the price of XBL isn't an issue. If the PSN service was actually comparable to live then there might be some debate to the price, but since it's not there isn't.

Xbox 360 premium=$400+any optional extras you want but its still $400
PS3 60gb=$600+any optional extras you want but its still $600
I have both the 360 and the PS3, If you can't afford it thats your problem not mine so stop crying and don't call people dumb ass, dumb ass.
You can also add that Microsoft points are complete milkage as opposed to Sony's just pay what you want. Microsoft forces it customers to pay for more points than they need. So while its not a lot of money it adds up over time.CajunShooterAnother fanboy. Are you guys that butt hurt over the PS3 sales in Europe you need to come out and say stupid things. Milkage? I have never had to many MS points. I always need to buy more. If you think that you won't have to pay for every little thing on the PS3 you are mistaken. I would rather pay for 1600 points at a time then have my credit card billed for 100 $1-2 transactions. It doesn't matter anyways I will end up buying extras for most of my games on the PS3 too.
God save us from price threads that include Xyears of XBL, electricity, the car you go get it in and the cost of the home you play it in.
360 has no hdmi which is only thing that lets 1080p work so who ever said they are playing in 1080p on 360 is really dumbcdecrosta031080p works over component and VGA you fail!. And don't buy into the HDMI hype or the 1080p hype just because Sony used it as a sales point. Ms quickly took that away from them. fact is PS3 really can't handle 1080p that's why motorstorm got severely downgraded from 1080p 60fps to 720p at 30fps.

Before you go around and calling people dumb, you should actually research what you write because you are quite uninformed.
1080p works without HDMI through component or VGA. To play games in 1080p on xbox you can use both cables however some TV's don't accept 1080p through component but alot do and VGA is the other option. HDMI is only for *HD movies* not games because of HDCP but this isnt even going to be enforced until next year.

EDIT
also then why could i select 1080p in the system//monitor(i think thats what its called)// hd settings. the options are 480p, 720p, 1080i and 1080p.
Also if you look on the back of some 360 games ex: GRAW2 it says HDTV 720/1080i/1080p
why do 360 fan boys always bring up the price? All the stuff the PS3 has that the Xbox 360 doesnt, you dont really need. You should be able to buy a PS3 at an affordable price and make the decision for yourself if you want any upgrades.

If hdmi is so bad why is microsoft making a xbox 360 1.5 with hdmi in it? cause they screwed upcdecrosta03
They did it because it's guarenteed that every HDTV will have an HDMI port eventually so why not allow people who want it to use it? Also if the decide to make a Blu-ray player add-on they can guarentee 1080p movie playback. Plus the IPTV services with HD content.
But just to remind you, you DO NOT need HDMI to play xbox 360 games in 1080p. Trust me, I'm playing my 360 through a 1080p SONY Bravia and have my 360 set to 1920x1080 through VGA in the dashboard at 60 Hertz (aka 1080p).
Prove me wrong buddy.

that's why you spoiled your last account
Adding in Xbox live to the price is gertting old. Xbox live is worth the price, and its better than PSN. $200 over 4 years is A LOT different than $200 up front anyway.
And stop throwing in accessories just to even out the price, dude I can through in a ton accessories in with the PS3 too.
Fact is PS3 is $200 more. Too much. Reason why it's not selling well.
They did it cause they screwed up all other reasons are just excuses. who makes half an upgraded game system 360 1.5 wow lol sounds gaycdecrosta03
Your pathetic damage control makes me laugh. Seriously stop wasting everyones time and come up with a convincing argument. Maybe you should wait for the official announcment to find out everything about the new xbox. Plus 120GB HD, HDMI port, better DVD drive, smaller CPU and new black color is a pretty big upgrade to me.

Why the hell are you spamming your own thread with the same biased, stupid price comparison?

So while its not a lot of money it adds up over time.CajunShooterAdds up over time? Are you nuts? Its not like they expire or just disappear. They stay on the account until you use them. If people only ever have an extra 400 points at any time, then the most they are out is $5. The points dont expire, or disappear when you buy more points. Some people like having one transaction on their bank account instead of 15 small "microtransactions" that will result from the PSN service. This also gives parents a way to provide an XBL "budget" for their kids and such. I bet their will be more then a few groundings coming from some kid jumping on PSN and running up their parents credit cards.

LMFAOcdecrosta03LOL, you actually used "not a fan boy" and "facts" in the same sentence, nice one.
As a gaming system first, the 360 is the better deal even if you got the bare $299 unit. The hard drive is not (yet) a requirement but it really helps so you can get the 20gb version for $100 more. That's $399 as compared to the 20gb PS3 for $499. Blueray worth $100 more...hmm not really.
Factor in the newer black unit with 120gb drive for a mere $80 more and it is STILL cheaper than the 20gb PS3 and has more space than the bigger 60gb PS3. Again, blueray worth more...hmmmm. Not really.
Online with a price vs free. I actually like paying because I know the money I spend ges to making sure ALL live enabled games are given a standard to which they must perform where as the free option puts the gamer at the mercy of the individual game server which Sony has not put down a ground work for standards yet. They will get better.
As a high def video player, the nod goes to the PS3 because of the blueray drive. Now the 360 does really have an advantage here as well but it is a bit more involving. You see, even MS has gone on to say that both hddvd and br are not fully consumer acceptable (ATM). If there is a winner then the appropriate drive would be available for use on the 360 if consumer demand warrented it. Nice that it is optional and yes the 360 DOES have an hddvd drive. That was released more to save face that Sony kept saying "We can do high def movies." So MS basically had that drive further along than their blueray unit and made it available to say "we can too, PLUS it is external and can be attached to the core, premium and (soon to be) deluxe units."
Price just isnt something Sony thought too much about. The PS3 is an "EVOLUTIONARY" step up from the PS2 and not so much "REVOLUTIONARY" like the PS2 itself was. Performance differences between the 360 and PS3 are too close to call which brings it all back on the inclusion of blueray for the average price of $250-300 more than the basic 360.
this last part would be a nice twist but I am betting it will end up rumor (or april fools joke). Sony realizing the cost of the PS3 is just to high for the "GAMING" consumer, has decided to remove the blueray drive from the 20gb sku and replace it with a standard dvd player and lower the cost of the "entry level" PS3 to $299 making it the same price as the core 360 but it would include the 20gb drive where as the core 360 does not.
Highly doubtful but it could happen as it has been proven (or soon will be) that content just isn't there to really fill up the blueray disc. Movies maybe but games.......?

Brand new 120GB 360 (which I'm assuming you don't already own, meaning you can calmly stop arguing now)=$480, according to theory. Add an HD-DVD drive and you have a $680 console with a similar feature set to PS3. Minus online. So let's say 4 years of Xbox Live service, which I'm sure you plan on using. That's $880. If you don't plan on buying it, that's $400 for a premium 360+4 years at $200. Then, add an HD-DVD drive, and a 120 GB upgrade for an additional $600, meaning, to truly trump the PS3, you require a $1000 USD purchase. Damage control? Argue the numbers, buddy. For a fully decked out 360, assuming you already own one, you require $1000.Please Log In to post.
