I think that all in all, the PS3 is an overall 'better' system to the Wii. But there is one thing that annoyes the heck out of me and I'm just curious if anyone else shares my sentiment.

It seems that almost every time I go to watch Netflix (streaming) on my PS3, I'm forced to download and install one update or another. Maybe not EVERY time, but a LOT.

Meanwhile, my Wii wasn't even hooked up for months, just sitting in the closet, and upon installing it in the bedroom this past weekend, all I did was turn it on and I was ready to view.

What gives? What is with the constant updates on the friggin PS3? Are these updates even necessary?

I've always wondered why the PS3 has to have update after update while my Wii I can just turn it on and be able to use Netflix or play games.

You're over exaggerating.

Netflix updates don't exactly happen that very often as you make it out to be.

And Netflix updates are like 2 secs max.

I'm not exaggerating at all. At least once a week (although recently I've realized that if I repeatedly hit 'cancel' I can avoid it).

With the Wii you have the option to manually install system updates and the updates are un intrusive. while with the PS3 they're shoved down your throat.

PS3 Netflix isn't that good at all, especially compared to the Wii client.

That is the thing that I hate about the current 7th Generations of videogame consoles. The contant need for updates. Playstation 3 is always in need of updates for things I never use anyway. I just use my playstation 3 for playing videogames, rarely play on-line. But it does seem that "The lastest udate has been found". I never noticed that it was missing or misplaced.

I just cannot be bothered with the lastest update. I just want to fire up an game and play without having to download endless updates. I do not have the patience. But that is the seventh generation and 8th generation. The playstation 3 is"kinda" of a computer. Even thoughSonytook away theLinix OS feature. Which not many people bothered with in the first place. Except the hackers.

As for the Wii since it is a lessor system "computer wise" Pentium 3 power at the best. Designed for non- videogame players and non computer techcompilant people. The Wii is meant for casual people. so the need for on-line updates is not needed as much.

Sonyhas billed the playstations as computer entertainment systems. So constant updates are a part of life now. Sigh (i just do not have the patience for a 5min udate sometimes)

Huh? :? I've been using the Netflix app on my PS3 since January and I've only had to update it once and that was a few days ago.

Yeah, I don't like how consoles (specifically the PS3) has adapted all the bad stuff from PC's without any of the good. Mandatory installs? Really? It's stupid. And I have no doubt that PS4 will be any better. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised Microsoft and Nintendo doing it as well.

How so? I used mine almost every day. I see nothing wrong with it.

my ps3 is always updating, no reason to pretend otherwise. my 360 is loud as can be but i'll still pick it over the pc or wii when it comes to netflix.

I rarely had to update netflix on my ps3, however I usually used the client on my wii becuase it just worked better. It was pretty regular that I would have to wait for netflix to load again in the middle of an episode on the ps3 while I never had that problem on wii

I've been using Netflix on my PS3 since March of this year. I've had to only update a couple times and I have no problems with load times at all.

I use Netflix on the PS3 all the time. I don't have to pay extra to use it and that's an extra bonus.

If anything, the PS3 offers the best features out of all console netflix apps. It has HD (which the Wii app lacks) and surround sound for select titles (which 360 and Wii lack).
