PS3 and 360 aren't competing against the Wii directly. I know you're gonna mention Move and Natal, but those are side options, not how you play every game.

the 360 would have been better off if it never debuted in japan they look at it like the plague...

The amount of systems sold in Japan is really not that big of a deal (or atleast wasn't much of a deal). For example, the Wii outold its entire Japan year in theUSA in one month. The PS3 was similar.

Well of course it needs to be cheaper. Even lemmings admit that things like bluray and wifi have some additional value, at least for some people. That has never really been in question. The question has been more are those things really needed/worth the additional cost? If there is no additional cost, than of course the PS3 is going to start to catch up.

It is like you don't get the business strategy.Launch first, keep the h/w coststo the essentials, reach manufacturing efficiency first, always retain the price advantage. Pretty good strategy facing a market leader that dominated last gen. Of course, it would have been better without RROD :)
