PS3 won 2008. Confirmed

Look at this list for the GOTY candidates on gamespot.

3 of them are PS3 exclusive. 8 of them are on PS3. The 360 has 5 games up there, but only one is exclusive, and it's a $10 d/l game. The Wii only has one exclusive, one game total ouch. The PC has no exclusives up there, ouch.

The whole series came off as very "meh' to me....has a harcore following though

It's weird how a game like NHL 09 is up there, but Gears2 isn't. Also I wonder why Bioshock is up thereCouth_

Because NHL is the best Sports game that came out this year? Just because it doesn't fit your needs doesn't make it any less of a great game. Gamespot thought to that, and thats why its on the list. I am shocked the Gamespot picked Resistance 2 over Gears of War 2, neither will win game of the year but I guess gamespot is suggesting that Resistance 2 is a better game? I have no idea what the other reason is.

Bioshock wasn't terrible it was actually a pretty good game. I think the list was pretty good depict of the best games that came out this year. I am deciding between fallout 3 or MGS4. Don't hate me because I like games that some people don't like though because we are all intitled to our own opinion.

It has so little votes because even though its the best sports game of the year, I don't think it should be the game of the year and along with the majority of people agree with that. Probablyat the same place Football Manager 2009 is, they have about the same userbase on Steam. Valve should be ashamed to have their name attached to that overhyped and glorified mod.
