Speaking as a PS360 owner i can honestly say that both need a lot of work to take the crown in 2008.. Ill start with the 360, with Such Outstanding games such as Mass Effect, Halo 3, Gears and Bioshock in the last 2 years, MS better step up the game because gamers will expect the same greatness in 2008, me being one of them.. Im sorry MS, you have a great console but Lost Odyssey,Fable 2,Too Human and Banjo Tooie isnt going to cut it in 2008.. I say bring on Gears of war 2 or atleast a new Killer Instinct.

Next up we have the PS3.. Grant it the PS3 has the more impressive library for 2008 out of the big three.. But for God sakes sony, fix that broken online service.. I mean sheesh, its been over a year and i still cant simply send a message to one of my friends while im in game?! PS3 owners arent asking for much, all they want is to simply be able to send messages and listen to custom soundtracks while playing games.. Sure Home sounds great, but sony, have you heard of the expression "Gotta crawl before you can walk" Take care of the simple stuff first like Ingame messaging and custom soundtracks THEN you can work on the big stuff like Home.

In conclusion, both are overall great consoles that offer great features and great games.. But all this talk about 360 is going to kill sony in 2008 and vice versa is just bogus right now, they both have A LOT of work to do if you ask me and only time will tell.

2007 was just too good... 2008 will be alright, but following up one of the best years in gaming since 1998 is a difficult task.

ROFL on the broken online. I've had no legitimate problems with playing online on games that haven't already been fixed....I.E. COD4 and Warhawk.

As far as the first-party titles....the online experience couldn't be better. The XBox 360 has yet to replicate this experience. It's all COD4 quality or worse. Matchmaking and P2P is the work of the devil.

everyone had a good run in 07 except for the wii... if it weren't for mario galaxy and metroid prime 3, my system would have stayed off for 90 percent of the year.

even a ps3 fanboy wouldn't say something so silly. you have got to be a sony shill.

Resistance: 40 player online, headset support, dedicated servers, multiple game modes, clan support, messenger support, customizable characters, ranking system with medals, etc....

Warhawk: unlockable models, icons, customizable characters, ranking system with medals, etc, dedicated servers, headset support, 32 player online.....

Neither have lag. Please.

And UT3 on PS3 is the first console game in history to have PC mod support....the first of which came out this month.

Then I pick up Halo 3 via ethernet on my 10MBPS+ connection, and it lags. And I get to endure matchmaking and P2P. Oh, joy. Then I play COD4 on the PS3, which, unfortunately, has both P2P and matchmaking, and their companion lag. Yeah, it's rare, but it's still there. I can only imagine what you poor schlubs with DSL have to put up with, considering I've got about 20x your bandwidth. I'm so tired of the crap COD4 has put me through already....."host left the match," "lobby closed," "we don't know, but get out," "find somewhere else to play...."

Did you know that I played a game on a single server on CSS which employed:

1) a custom map

2) a deathmatch system

3) a random weapons system

4) no timers

5) no purchases, autopickup weapons at spawn

6) spawn protection (500 life at spawn)

in which I racked up 680 kills before leaving. Have you ever played a Halo 3 match lasting over an hour? I thought not. On a custom map, with zero lag, and with custom game settings? I thought not. That's right, the only custom settings you can use are employed by the actual infrastructure of the game. Can you fix grav settings? Have you ever played Zombie Mod or Hide and Seek on a Halo 3 match? How about anything even remotely equivalent?

I know what your response will be. I can see it now. "I can move a box around on Halo 3 for my friends to stand on! It's ta awesome, Gamespot said so!"

Right. PSN ain't perfect, but the first party games have it a hell of a lot closer to PC standards than XBL does. Voice chat and invites aside....they're all just frills to a package that needs content. Work on that latency, then we'll talk.

To be blunt: it's not as though I love PSN, I just HATE P2P and matchmaking.

Only game i WOULD really care about for 360 in 2008 is Alan Wake, but my PC can play it much better. NG2 should be good, and I'm hoping fable 2 will this time around deliver on whats promised. but whats the chances of that?

Wow, those Fable 2 vids were SO sad. Peter Molyneux just looked like a jaded ass. My hype level is currently zero.

Halo Wars has a better chance of being a good, even superb game than that mess.

On the other hand, I'm expecting some awesome titles to surface on the 360 next year. My outlook is positive, so what's it with the rest of you guys?

You've still got Bungie, Bioware, Bioshock, and Epic. Capcom has been slathering love juice all over 360 happy sundaes since launch. Plenty to look forward to IMO.

Otherwise, just....I don't know, play the backlog of games amounting to Mass Effect, Halo 3, COD4, Bioshock, Gears of War, COD2-3, Rainbow Six, GRAW 1-2, PGR 3-4, Forza 2....

Oh, nooooooo. What a predicament.
