PS3,could it beat Wii in 2008? (New Version)

Okay, the Wii was the wining system in 2007, and 2006. And the PS3 came in 3rd in 2007, and 2006. But now it seems that the PS3 may be stepping up the plate. I know the Wii will beat the PS3 again this year, but I think the PS3 acually has a chance.

The PS3 2008 line-up. Haze, Metal gear soild 4,Littelbigplanet, Killzone 2, SOCOM: Confrontation, Tekken 6, White knight story, Final fantasy 13, Sing star, Eight days, Resistance: fall of man 2 (posiblly 2009), and Gran Turismo 5.

The Wii 208 ine-up. De blob, Wii fit, Super smash bros. brawl, Sonic riders:Zero gravity, No more heros, Deca sports, Worms: a space oddity, Endless ocean, Disaster:day of crisis (posiblly 2009), Dragon quest swords: the masked queen and the tower of mirrors, Dragonology, and Maio cart wii.

you know with a 800 dollar price tag and no games it did just as good as 360 in its first year? I actually heard it did better. infact I even heard that PS3 did better worldwide this year than the 360 did (in its 2nd year)

C = Total sales so far, E = Estimated monthly sales, M = Months, p = PS3, w= Wii

Cp + EpM = Cw + EwM; Solve for M.

Thats how many months it will take PS3 sales to catch up. Try to use at least somewhat realistic numbers. No 5000% increase in monthly PS3 sales and a 99% decrease in Wii monthly sales.

Blu-Ray had a banner year. PS3 did well, but its games sales are at a level where you can make a case based off of math that people aren't buying PS3 primarily for games. Which is why the exclusives tank regardless of quality and multiplats don't sell at a rate thats proportional to the PS3s install base. You want your PS3 to do well as a video game sysem, get off system wars and actually buy some games. Every other system is primarily owned by gamers with games sales to prove it.

Great point, but it will be really hard for the ps3 to pass the wii this year, but without a doubt the ps3 will beat the 360 this year worldwide.

I think someone needs a reality check.

First off all, more then half those games you just listed have either not been givin any release dates or they will likely be pushed back into 2009 because that is what Sony typically does with many of its over-hyped titles.

Second, do you have any idea how far behind PS3 is to the 360, much less the Wii? Since the new year PS3 has been selling around 10000 more units weekly while it is still lagging far behind the Wiis weekly sales. Last I checked the PS3 is almost 6.5 million units behind the 360 and nearly 10,000,000 behind the Wii. There is no force on heaven or earth that could allow Sony to pass Nintendo atleast for the next 2 years, and most likely never. And even at PS3 current rate of sales it will most likely never surpass the 360, or at least not until 2010 at the earliest.

Just face it, the PS3 is more then likely going to end this war at the bottom. Sony F'd up and it will and has shown repeatedly.

Well, looking at how well Wii is doing. Many Japanese people are moving away from JRPGs to more casual, party games that are the highlights of Wii.

haze was delayed......again, so it probably will be delayed......again, i expect a 2009 release. and i expect a 2009 for mario kart and white knight. the only wii game to me that looks cool is SSBB and de blob

Talking seriously, the ps3 will have much better games than the wii, that is a fact, u cant compare GT5 to mario kart, but anyway, even if ps3 games are better, that doesnt mean ps3 sales will be better than wii´s, different audience that doesnt care about how good a game is, they care about having a game that they can play with their family and kids, and some(not much, but they exist) that want it because they think it has revolutionary technology and they think its fun to swing the wii mote arround, so I expect the wii sales to be bigger than ps3 sales, but the 360, thats another story

Brawl got released today.

I don't see how the PS3 could get that big of an increase in the next year.

Right now I'm sitting here deciding what system I want to buy tomorrow.... I have a Wii. Now do I want a 360 or a PS3? The fact is, Sony is lacking in good exclusive games so bad that I've pretty much decided that I'm going to spend $350 on a console that has a 1 in 3 chance of taking a crap on me in the near future because IT HAS GAMES.

Just think about that. I would rather buy a poorly built console that I know will probably need repairs than a sturdy, more powerful system that has next-gen movie capabilities because I want a gaming system that has all the good exclusive games... and I'm not even a fan of online gaming.

I wanted to like the PS3.... I wanted to believe in the PS3... I wanted to WANT a PS3, but there's far too few really exciting exclusive games for the system, and that's the thing that's important. Unless they can get that key element going in their favor, the PS3 will be trailing behind the other two consoles for the duration of this gen. I think SONY should instead start looking at what went wrong and start planning for the PS4.

Saying the PS3 can beat the Wii is blasphemy, what do you think half the world would get FFXIII? and don't tell me that GTAIV (Bless it's soul) would be better on the ps3 the 2 versions are so alike they have the same release dates!, AND WHAT THE HELL Resistance 2 was announced late 2007 why the hell are these cows saying "oh dood Ressistance 2 is so going to beat GoW2" the average time a game would come out is like 2 or 3 years and thats on the DVD format imagine how long it would take if it was in Blu Ray.
