PS4 1st box 2 launch before rival, while cheaper,more power?

With PS4 having superior performance over XO, its apparent that MS will have a far weaker console this time around. For it to actually be 500 dollars and 100 bucks more than PS4 is insane. Battlefield 4, COD Ghosts, and Need For Speed are all vastly inferior on the XO. Has this ever happened before? How did Sony make the PS4 so affordable, release before XO, and have performance thats head and shoulders over its competition?

No bundled camera

The PS4 Camera is only 60 bucks though. I'm wondering if Sony got a better deal on parts than MS did.

I don't know about the most powerful part but I believe the gamecube was cheaper than the PS2 and more powerful as well.

@NineTailedGoku: the 60 I am sure is no where near the kinect 2.0 it's probably more like the original kinect if anything. It's really small from the unboxing videos too

The N64 launched at a lower price than the PS1...but it did launch a year later.

@MFDOOM1983: I wouldn't say vastly. It has been noted games look better on ps4 though. I don't care about that I hope ps4 online can match Xbox ones is my main concern.

Those three titles are bought be millions upon millions who may not even know the difference between upscaled 1080p x 60 FPS and 1080p x 60 FPS.

And how many people do you really think can tell the difference between native 1080p and upscaled 1080p?

nowhere in the OP does it state the consoles need be released within a fortnight of each other.

Let's be honest, the Wii U is part of the eighth generation, and moving goalposts only makes your argument seem weak.

PS4 camera -- of what we know of it -- is considerably inferior in terms of features and system integration. So it should cost less.

@XxR3m1xInHDn3D: In what way? The GC had faster ram, a better cpu and the gpu, due to its fixed functions, was very efficient and succeeded real world figures. Rebel Strike on the GC had over 20 million polygons, more than any other game that gen, while including bump mapping, shading, and running at 60 fps.

Real world performance, Gamecube was pretty damn close to Xbox.

The differences between BF4 on PS4 and XB1 are practically non existent and there are tons of videos showing this. COD Ghost is suppose to get upscaled to 1080p so again, marginal difference. Original Xbox was almost a generation ahead. I remember my friend playing Soul Calibur 2 on Xbox at 720p HD.

Releasing before is a non-issue, as it's only by a week or so. The XOne is so expensive due to Kinect. MS goofed.

Second didn't the first Kinect had a chip.? Because compute on Kinect 2 is done by GPU on the xbox one,in fact is part of the reason for the whole 10% GPU reservation.

@MightyMuna: The xbox really wasn't a gen ahead. The GC was a factually more powerful console when it came to polygon pushing. Here is an interesting link eexplaining it.

I'm not sure about the first Kinect, but I know that the XB1 has a custom audio chip that handles the voice controls. I always assumed that the first Kinect didn't work too well because the crappy Xenon CPU was trying to do too much work..

But, the Kinect 2 is definitely far ahead of anything Sony has. I've watched several demonstration videos, and Kinect 2 actually works very well...
