It's almost impossible to get the camera for under $100 now

Sony (SNE) released the PlayStation 4 a few months ago and one of the console’s coolest accessories is already impossible to find.

The PlayStation 4 Camera is already a hard-to-find item despite the initial hype surrounding the accessory. Many thought that the camera would be included with the console but Sony decided to release it separately in order to compete against Xbox One.

The PlayStation 4 Camera was selling for $59.99 upon release but that price has already been jacked up. Amazon (AMZN) only has it available through third-party marketplaces which are selling the camera for $160 and higher.

Other major retailers don’t even have it in stock or even listed at all. The cheapest option might be eBay (EBAY) where some users are selling the item for $130.

Kinect 2.0 is better in almost every way including crystal clear Skype 1080p resolution and a award winning crystal clear mic.

Most don't even want a kinect/camera, that is a fact. But, I'm glad there are some lemmings who are willing to defend the camera even if most developers don't make any games for kinect.

Why the hell would anyone pay for PS camera? Sony doesn't even support it. It's just there. Kinect is on a whole new level because MS actually is committed to it.

The camera is harder to get than the console. We have only gotten them twice since launch.

Doesn't matter, it'll still get terrible developer support. They separated the market. Even if it achieves Kinect 1 like sales. Sony aren't even marketing and pushing it. It's a waste of money. Kinect 1 was less so because at least MS was doing their best with it. Don't see Sony doing that somehow, if the past is anything to go by.

No he's spot on. Sony historically lets their peripherals out to die. And to make matters worse, the by-product of selling it separately is that the market for the camera is now separated, it therefore becomes much more of a business risk for developers. The PS camera is a waste of money.

No isn't because you don't know why people are buying these cameras. The could for streams(UStream, Twitch) or for games(Just Dance). So for Kinect we have see Figher Within and Kinect Sports Rivals...both of those are garbage and I don't expect any serious support for Kinect gaming any time soon. If you talking about TV/UI well the fact PS4 is owning Xbox One shows that was a bad decision and people are not embracing it(outside of the US it is garbage).

The camera is pretty great. Video quality is poor. But the built-in mic is surprisingly good. Good for Twitch streaming.

Doesn't change much of what i've said, when it comes to games the PS camera is going to suck. Kinect also isn't limited to just it's own games. It can be used for anything at any level of integration.

Also the consoles haven't been out long and the X1 is still selling well despite costing more.

When it to games Kinect is going to suck. Always has and always will. Xflop sold well to hardcore lemmings who were gonna buy it no matter what. Wii U started off great too...

You've never seen Kinect in these conditions. This time it's got full support and it actually works.

And Playstation 4 sold well to hardcore cows who were going to buy it no matter what, which is how it sold with no games.

Its not a bad camera, not sure I'd buy it but in UK its fairly easy to be them, can't say I've seen them sold out anywhere.

It seems like PS3-4 only owners are all stuck in the past.. Why wouldn't you not want to just tell your console to turn on, which by saying "xbox on" also turns on your TV simultaneously, instead of looking for your controller and remote control having to switch inputs every time.. The best part of the voice commands for me right now is that while I'm playing a video game, I can have the football game on TV picture-in-picture o the side and if something big happens all I have to say is "xbox fullscreen".. If you have never had experience with X1's UI and voice commands, then you are missing out.

I won't be buying one. Sony has completely abandoned the MOVE. They showed their Marionette dancers at their reveal for the PS4. We haven't seen anything with move support since. LMAO!!

welp, Sony got that to work lol. have a reveal showcasing Move and the camera....then take it out the box to undercut Microsoft at E3...then cows buy it separately as an add-on thus making the $100 dollar price difference they were touting between consoles seem nonsensical lol.
