PS4 Firmware Wishlist

So Sony have said they intend to update the firmware sometime 'very soon'. So what are you wish lists?

DLNA Support is a priority

Either Trackpad/6 axis support for the UI (not just keyboard as with the six axis). Web browser is the best example where i can see both of these systems working well. Brilliantly in fact

Dynamic Themes or even just the ability to change it so screenshot from a capture at the very least?

A more comprehensive video editor? I know its easy enough to get them from facebook but it would make for a more complete experience on the PS4

on and a youtube app is a must, having to search for an HTML5 Enabled video on youtube is just a pain

any other ideas?

I want dynamic themes and Channel 4 player in the UK mostly. It can play games and blu rays so it's not a biggie either way.

@beet0: Apparently they added "mp3 playback during gameplay" with the 13th of November patch. Although i think its limited to Music Unlimited... which sucks

A whole new UI. I don't like the current one. I don't care much for the XB1 UI either. I want my magical "HOME" button back. I didn't even know PS4 didn't have themes. That would be nice. Damn, I still haven't tried Blu-Ray movies on the Blu-Ray player on my PS4 yet. Want to see if there's any difference in sound or picture between PS4 and XB1.

Folders, folders, folders. I can't imagine if I had to scroll through the 400+ pieces of PSN content I have decently organized on the PS3, using this new UI.

Obviously the PS4 needs to build up the library, but as it is, it's completely unsuitable to manage a large library.

CD support won't ever come back because the PS4 doesn't even have a disc drive capable of reading CD's. It's only DVD/Blu-Ray.

^^ Definitely folders. Considering there's not a ton of content at launch, it's not a pressing issue at this point but they're probably working on it.

DLNA and Themes would be nice.

I would like the double tap PS button feature to bring up a mini menu where you can switch to multiple apps, kinda like ALT+TAB on Windows.

DLNA Support how could they not put that in

- Bluetooth Headset support

- Folder options, or an option to hide apps entirely (can't I just 'archive' things like Playroom?)

- mp3 support

- video format support to play media off of USB media

- Themes

I have pretty high confidence that all of the above will be patched in some point in 2014.

I want it to be able to do everything my PS3 can do.

1. I want to be notified when a friend comes online. I get that we could have up to 2,000 of them but let me at least toggle it for a person or group of people at least.

3. Let me see the last time the person was on. "X was online 17 mins ago" etc

They need themes and a way to pin your which apps you want to be shown first at all times at the front. For mine the news feed will be first, and the second app would be the only one that changes because whatever disk you put in, and the third app that would be pinned permanently would be the library.

That's really all I care to see at this point. I like the current UI, hopefully they won't be changing it. Keep it fast and clean, the spectral opposite of the xbone UI.

Organized UI. On PS3 you can put your games into sub folders... nice!

Music player with visualizer. On PS3 you could play music in the background and leave your TV on with a nice visualizer of the earth floating by. PS4 only has that crappy musicunlimited app, and there is no visualizer.

Honestly, for all the nice advances made on the PS3 UI over the years, the PS4 seems like many steps backward.

The ability to turn off the controller light off...i would hope that would help in a longer battery life..

PS4 should be able to read USB/external HDDs and play media like music/photos/videos like the PS3 does today ( preferably separating them like the PS3 with rows ). Plus adding all of the PS3 features for video settings in the PS4 settings menu, just copy/paste your damn media features Sony!

• Social features.

Last seen online, appear offline/busy or/and custom status.

• Sorting.

sorting with folders or adding to favorites for apps/games/media.

• Themes.

Static and/or Dynamic.

• DS4 navigation.

1. Turning off the DS4 quicker.

Instead of, hold PS button -> adjust devices -> choosing turn off device from option menu -> choosing DS4

It should be, hold the PS button -> turn off DS4.

2. Easier way to see the battery life.

Instead of holding the PS button for 3 seconds to check the battery why not make it like the PS3 ? but then if you just tap the PS button in the middle of the game it goes straight to the UI, I know it's tricky but they need to do something more convenient.

3. Turning off the lightbar.

Just putting it out here because people wants that option, I don't know if it saves battery life since LED light drains less power than normal light but again I'll always support other users if it means more convenience.

My wish and my only wish is to be able to play BF4 in native 1080p. Remove the crappy FXAA and give me 1080p and ill be happy as fk. This won't happen tho so fk da police.

Amen to that. Stupid fucking light is a joke. Actually the whole controller is a joke.

L1 button is as fragile as some of the lems on this sites ego's, and the analog sticks wear out faster than the lems on this site go into damage control. ;)

Themes are a must and the ability to see all PSN store content for all formats, PS4, PS3 and Vita would be nice.

I move between two rooms quite frequently. One with ethernet and the other room I use wireless. It would be nice have the option for the PS4 to realise it is not connected by wire and default to wireless instead of having to manually switch it over each time I change rooms.

Also, content downloaded on a guest profile that is free (F2P or a demo) should not be locked from other users just because the downloader was a guest: the content is free so why can't I use it?

Music and video support via USB, in game music like 360 where it automatically stops in-game music, folder options, dynamic themes, organize the icons better.

I think the DS4 is a huge improvement in ergo's over the DS3...it feels wayyyyyy better IMO. I don't know yet on how fragile the thing is. No games to play;)

mouse support for games

@masiisam: I agree totally, comfortwise and during gameplay the DS4 is a fantastic controller to use. I just have a problem with it's build quality. For it's price it should be at a higher standard.
