The developer behind PlanetSide 2 has heaped praise on PlayStation 4s technical prowess, stating Sonys next-generation console offers visuals comparable to that of high-end PCs.

Speaking with GamingBolt in regards to what has motivated Sony Online Entertainment to bring the game to PS4, creative director, Ravi Sinha, replied:

As players have been asking for PlanetSide 2 to be payable on the console, we wanted to open the door and invite them into the PlanetSide 2 universe. With the PS4 hardware, we can offer amazing graphics that rival a high end gaming PC without compromising the gameplay or social structures that are critical to PlanetSide 2; it is the ideal platform to showcase the games beauty and massive open world combat.

If it's not 1080p 60fps then it's pointless to say it like that. Of course the assets could rival a PC if you gimp the res and framerate

Yeah, but an unreleased system is being compared to systems that are currently in use, that argument makes no sense since it makes an assumption none of those PC owners will be doing any upgrades anytime soon.

- SONY ONLINE guy praises SONY.  :roll:

- Makes some vague attack on PC's claiming that msot don't own a PC more powerful than a PS4.

How many times do we need to go through this?

According to Steam survey about 14% of PC gamers have rigs that match or surpass a PS4. That's about 10 million PC gamers. AND that's only on Steam, only last generation GPU's (the survey doesn't take the new ones into account), and ignores the fact that upgrading to modenr ahrdware was COMPLETELY unecessary for the past 4 years in roder to play 99% of games out there at better than console settings.

So:

- number of people with PS4's?  BIG FAT ZERO.

- Number of people wiht matching or better PC's:  over 10 milion RIGHT NOW.  Will almosty certainly grow.

- Length of time it took the last gen consoles to reach an install base of 10 million?  3 YEARS.

FACT:  MOST console gamers will be playing games at SUB 720p/terrible graphcis and performance becaus eMOST console gamers will stick to the current gen of consoles.

That whole gotcha is just so stupid, it makes you look like a 10 year old TC.

So Sony devs of a Sony game said something good about a the same Sony console that they are releasing on soon.

Planetside 2 is a fantastic looking game, especialy considering it's scale and with physx on. I'm curious to see how will PS4 handle it.

Yeah, i'm not expecting it to use PhysX, but something similar. Most next gen games shown so far have good use of particle effects.

i built a new pc for a buddy about a year ago and know for a fact that games on it will still look a bit better than anything coming out for the new consoles.

It's obvious a Sony dev would say this. :lol:

I'm curious to see how well this game runs with 100+ players running around on the screen at the same time, with bullets flying everywhere and vehicles and planes everywhere. I'll be surprised if the PS4 can hold a 15fps with all this activity. My laptop runs it just fine.

I run it maxed out easily, but it still looks like shit imo. Games ok I guess.
