Since Ps4 wont do any of that drm stuff, does that mean you can install the games and play without the disc?

Thats the main reason I want an Xbox One, so I can play games without the disc in the drive.

It's funny, ps3 fanboys said that the 360 was inferior because some games had to swap discs.. Xbox One gets rid of that completely.. I wonder what is Xbox One fanboys are going to harp on having to put a disc in the console to play it. lol, funny times are ahead.

It's precisely BECAUSE there is no DRM that Sony will almost assuredly require the disc to play. It might not need to read game data off of it (tha tis, it might allow you to install game assets to the drive for faster access), but you'll still need the disc.

And I'm with the OP on this one. As a PC gamer discs are a thing of the past, and I'm happy about that. Once you have your entire library a mouse click away, it's hard to go back to physically swapping discs.

They were harping on about the need to swap discs. You wont be having to swap discs this gen.

I got to have that laid back lifestyle, I dont think Ps4 would provide that for me. Switching discs is too hard for me since I like to switch games so fast.

If Ps4 dont have that 24 hour check then I dont think they could allow you to play without a disc.

So?

I would rather have disc in the system and installs that decrease load times over what the hard drive alone could do, I've noticed it quite often the games I have downloaded from digital distribution on my ps3 load slower then If I had the disc and it had an install.
You achieve faster load times if your game is designed to draw information from two indipendent sources. *which is why halo 3 had so many issues*

As for that are you stupid? installs with no disc needed and no online registeration? people could just go around installing the disc and giving it to friends to install..etc...etc

Not too fat, when I come home from college and work I expect a console to cater to my needs. It seems only the Xbox One will do this. I want to be able to lay in bed then tell my console to turn on and play the game I want.

The PS4 is cheaper for a reason, many things this console can't do. I also like how sony presents the ps4 with the PSEye as if its a package deal when it's not SMFH. http://www.joystiq.com/2013/06/11/playstation-eye-dualshock-controller-both-priced-59-for-ps4/?a_dgi=aolshare_twitter

What do you prefer, an insert disc to play the game that you own, or a disc to install a game that you lease?

First of all constantly spinning the disk drive increases wear on the drive and will eventually burn it up, so you trolls need to STFU on that regard. It is one of the reasons I stopped buying retail games on the PC and always instal to the hard drive on my 360. Because 1) I get tired of listening to the constant drone of the drive spinning up/down, and 2) more wear means it is more likely to fail. So yeah installing to the hard drive (which has much longer lifespan in terms of usage/hours) is a big deal. To the original point, however, it is very likely that since there is no DRM or authentication, games require a disk check to play just like the current gen.

You can play two games switch off one another on x1, of course this is many things you can do on the x1 and not on the ps4 so if you live in the digotal age x1 is definitely the console for you

I am not disagreeing with that point. I am simply stating it is ALWAYS better to install the game to the HD if you can and only have to do a disk check then to have the console streaming all the data directly off the disk.

No TC, PS4 doesn't require check in every day to play your games, it also doesn't require authentication to make sure it's not borrowed traded rented or bought used.

Playing from HDD would be convenient but that would require online authentication like Xbox One. I would happily stick with disc based authentication.

Not if you download it over the PSN, which is how I'm getting all my console games going forward. I just don't see the point of Gamestop and midnight launches etc. anymore.
