PS4 Update 1.70 crashing consoles? C'mon Sony....

Seriously I thought we were making progress in this area Sony...Is it 2006 again?

I seriously wanted to turn on this thing tonight and play around in the store but I really don't want to update if I'm gonna run into a train wreck of problems.

Mine did some weird shit with the friend list not loading all the time right after I updated but it was gone the next day. Maybe it was comcast throttling me again though...

That sucks. No issues here, but I also haven't fiddled with the HDCP toggle, and it sounds like that's giving much of the grief.

@mr-powers: Same thing happened to me with the friends list yesterday. Haven't turned it on today though.

It also wouldn't sync with the DS4 I had to connect and reboot the console a few times to get it to work.

lulz. dont worry, it will only take them another 6 months for the next update.

I've had no problems with it all. As usual, a small percentage of systems are always negatively affected by firmware updates.

Did I read that right, PS4 and not PS3? I just don't get how an update crashes the PS4. You would have thought these ongoing random problems stopped with the PS3.

Honestly, all I did was download the update and turn It back off again. I haven't touched my next gen consoles in a while. The drought is to be expected this early on but boy does it suck balls.

In fact I'm so desperate to find an excuse to play something on them, I'm going to go buy Amazing Spider Man 2 tomorrow. I don't care that it only got a 5/10 on Gamespot if it's anything like Spider Man 2 I'll love it.

yes, new ps4 update is crashing consoles, but the consoles they are crashing are xbones. now that's what i call magic.

This is pretty much why new features are staggered out instead of released all at once.

Fortunately smaller updates for bug fixes tend to come out in a matter of days rather than weeks or months.

Every single time people complained about the latest update bricking their PS3's mine ran smooth as silk.

Sony should adopt a beta testing program like Microsoft has. It's nice knowing that when I download an update on my X1 it's been tested. I'd love the same security on my PS4.

Almost every time there's an update for PS3 & PS4 there are reports of problems. It's not Sony, it's bad internet connections and other things that happen while the update is installing on the console that interferes with the update being done successfully.

Sony does test it before releasing it.

That's untrue there have been many occasions where microsofts Update has mucked up some peoples consoles, same with all consoles, a small minority and you come on here and it's the biggest thing since the video game crash.

mine's fine not had any problems at all, just one person on here finds one person who has had problems and boom, next thing you know it's being used as cannon fodder.

Greatness Awaits. lol!! I'm glad I haven't updated my PS4 yet. I have no plans to do it at this point. I'll wait for Sony to get this shit fixed. Feel bad for all the gamers out there who have to deal with this and the 1/2 dozen other issues that occurred after the system launched. Everything from corrupted save files and disks getting stuck in the PS4's, to various other CE errors and full games being auto-deleted from gamers systems while they sleep. Crazy stuff.

No it's not....at least not for me. I ran into this with the ps3 and I have top notch speeds and results with Verizon Fios. All of my gadgets ran smooth and quick and the ps3 was the only one to give me problems with "hair-pulling" speeds and downloads. Still remember the Sony apologists making stupid statements like, "No problem just do something else...watch tv, listen to your radio, make a sandwich, etc.. while you wait." Pure nonsense. It's unacceptable.... when I want to play I want to play but I digress... no my internet connection has never been an issue.

Just over a month ago. Finished AC4 last night and moving on to Injustice Ultimate Ed. that I got from a PSN+ sale, only $25.

No problems here with my PS4 since the update and no problems for my friends either. Seems like the people with bricked PS4s were unlucky. There are always a couple of lemons with every console update. Same shit happens with the Xbone too, it's not really a big deal.

Nice. I beat AC4 on it a while back, just finished the story but haven't done everything yet like destroying those huge ships. Infamous SS is a fun game as well but a little light on content. It's going for like $40 brand new on glyde.com right now.

I destroyed one of those Legendary ships. I just don't think the trophy will be worth the traumatic aggravation of having to go through that ordeal 3 more times, lol. But I did enjoy completing all the Assassin Contracts, all Naval contracts, all Templar hunts, and finding all 13 keys to unlock the Mayan outfit.

Hmm, well I've heard feeding it a strong mix of ginger, cinammon and grapefruit can help, but if that still doesn't work, I recommend rubbing coconut oil on the top of it.

Yeah I got that outfit too. I admit I was a little disappointed with it, I mean it is a cool outfit but I was half expecting to get a trophy for all the searching for the thing. :P

You do get a trophy for acquiring the Mayan outfit. It's actually listed as unlocking the secret door in Tulum.
