Why would they do that. They using PS gamers to beta test which fan is better or something, then collecting performance data from the consoles?

This kind of stuff is exactly why I would have never pre-ordered a PS5 or Series X.

What's annoying af about my ps5 is that on random occasions the disc begins spinning and the disc drive is louder than it was on my 2013 ps4. Really does sound like some cheap shit bluray player

I've noticed this with demon's souls, that shit is really loud, does it have to do a drm check every 30mins or what the hell is going on?

That's weird. If the disc is fully installed it should not run at full speed.

That's what's messedup. I don't remember my ps4 randomly running the disc full speed.

I could be afk with the game running in the back, and it still does this even when the screen is dimmed and controller turned off.

Vertically. As @howmakewood has mentioned, its like some kind of a drm or something. Happens once every 30m or so, and the disc spins like crazy for like 10 or so seconds.

Mine does the same thing, but I thought it was my PS5.

It does it when I leave a disc inside.

Usually it’s TLOU2 or DS.

Even if the disc is inside the system and I’m playing a digital game off the ssd.

But it’s like every 20 min or so, it gets really loud, like it’s having problems reading the disc.

Also if I put it on Rest mode, sometimes I can’t get it to wake up, so I have to do a cold boot. So I just don’t leave it on rest mode anymore and I use my switch charger to charge the controller.

Man, Sony whiffed this. And it's selling like hotcakes anyway, so they won't care or learn a thing. The more I hear the less I like. I'll stick woth my jet engine PS4 for a while to be sure

on the plus side the 1000’s of ps5’s that have bricked have very quiet fans

Curious when stuff happens like this if Sony signs off or is aware or if say the Foxconn plant cut corners and Sony has to explain this or investigate.

The same thing happened with the PS4 pro. It's a matter of availability and limited parts, and it shouldn't affect performance. Having a louder fan isn't the end of the world, and once again lems are trying to blow it out of proportions because they can't deal with the fact that Xbox is losing yet again. LOL at anyone who thinks they are "testing" different models with the public. How dumb can you be.

Sure you are alt, you're just damage controlling that Sony are selling these things to the public, one with a "quiet" fan while the other being more noisy at the same price, who's to say they haven't done this with other parts. No coil whine what so ever. I've had 2 crashes since launch though.

Have not had this at all, disc drive never spins unless I just put the disc in. So maybe game to game?

Imagine being this dumb? iPhones had 2 different modems. All surface pros are sold with shitty Marvell controller that are trumped by an aliexpress $20 wifi dongle. Tons of companies do this.

Eh, no biggie. It's just a problem for morons getting a launch PS5. These things will be ironed out when dummies have tested Sony's console for them enough.

@Pedro: Some guys on twitter posted that burning mark that appeared on their ps5's , don't know what is causing it , ( i made sure to point out "some guys" ) because ponies automatically accuse you of saying this a wide spread issue.

Both are considerably more quiet than the PS4 / PS4 Pro so I'd call that a win.

I am going to say that is impossible. It would have to burn through the inner plastic before getting to the outer shell. So, that is a bullshot.
