PS5 is more expensive in general on scalpers market. Why?

PS5 launched with two games. Miles for the casuals and Demon's for the hardcore crowd. What did MS launch with? When people talk about the Series X, they think of their straight-to-DVD service known as the gamepass. Not very exciting when you have just that with the same old games on your 2013 console.

Demand. PS5 sold out in 0.000001 seconds here and people are gladly paying $1500 to get hold of one. A friend of mine sold 50+ PS5s for $1500-2000 a piece.

XSX took several weeks to sell out, and scalpers can't make a profit on them, they sell them for $550 at most.

More launch buzz. They can sell people on the well reviewed exclusive Spider-Man and Demon's Souls games. Xbox has a much harder job of selling people on gamepass. It's a great service, but it's not like you can put it under a tree. If Halo had made launch and been good then demand for both would probably be about the same.

It's the PS4 successor, of course there's a demand for it + people spend more time in their homes right now. It's not worth anything but the MSRP though and people who pay 1000+ for one are out of their minds. That's funny Best Buy had the PS5 available for several hours yesterday took forever to sell out, no one wanted one.

Sony brand is like honey that attracts Badgers & Bears thus why PS5 is very high in demands.

eBay prices for the Series X have tanked over the past few days. Folks who want one may wanna keep an eye on their local retailers. Scalpers will likely be returning units to stores. After eBay takes their cut, scalpers are currently looking at around $75-$100 profit. The PS5 is selling for around $850-$900, which is around a $200 drop from weeks ago. But it’s still much higher than the $650-$700 that the Series X is demanding.

I'm so sick of scalpers I refuse to pay over market value so it means I have to wait until next year when there's more stock available. The retailers could have made it a fairer experience when pre-ordering.

It's the first choice.. supply and demand. Xbox is in demand, but not as much as the PS5. Both are selling for well above retail. My wife thought about paying $700 to get me a XSX for Christmas, but I told her no and that I would just wait. I'm not paying a scalper. It's the principalities Smokey.

People on the internet may seem like morons, but in reality most people are pretty rational. So it‘s only natural that the demand for Ps5 is vastly superior to that of XsX. And therefor so is the price.

I haven't seen the XSX going for less than $700 on ebay. I would buy one for $550.. Do you have a source where I can get one for that?

its got momentum behind it from the ps4, but if im right, they will face stiff competition from xbox down the line. Gamepass completely demolishes anything available on the ps5 at the moment and in the forseeable future.

The funniest part about this is that PS5 had a ton of FUD working against it. People saying that only 100 games would be backwards compatible, that it would be slightly stronger than the Series S, that it would overheat, it would be $100 dollars more than XSX, the Resident Evil dev issue... all this is hilarious in hindsight.

There's a reason Phil and company are trying to consolidate the industry and giving away games on cheap subs now, because going head to head against Sony on their own merits doesn't work anymore. They have to open the warchest to keep Xbox from irrelevance. Unless they buy a pub like Take-Two, it's not gonna work.
