I wonder if it was going to be $450 before Xbox announced $300. MS should lower the price of that to $250 another $100 on more than likely credit account is nothing a month.

@effinae: That’s the wrong way to look at this. The reason Sony got the digital version down to $399 is because Sony will get all your money from digital games instead of splitting it with retailers on physical copies.

$499 & $399 was the price I actually expected to happen and what a day. Still going for the digital next-gen as I have no interest in buying physical games anymore. It'll probably be late 2021 till I pick up PS5 or somewhere in 2022.

Sony support for the PS4 is making reconsider purchasing the PS5. I like their more consumer friendly move. I may actually pre-order the PS5 purely because of the PS4 support with Miles-Morales, Sack boy and Horizon. Couple this with Demon Souls for PC.

Yea, I was wondering if Sony might pull a fast one on MS and price the disc version at $450, but why should they? It's worth $499 and they deserve to make some money on it lol.

My wife called and already has our name and phone number on a list at Gamestop for 2 physical PS5 consoles. 1 on 2 different accounts and possibly even a 3rd I may send a buddy of mine in Canada. We will have to do separate transactions using different accounts but should be able to pre-order them the second they go live. They are going to call us as soon as they go up. It's good to be cool with the manager :)

Just got confirmation and paid today for my 85" SONY Bravia X900H 4k 120hz TV with HMDI 2.1 and matching SONY Z9F soundbar with subwoofer and will know tomorrow what day they will arrive. I am also asking my wife for the matching rear speaker set for Christmas, and am currently searching for a TV stand that can accommodate everything (which has actually been the hardest part). Although I'm thinking I might go with one of those big tables with a LED electric fireplace with color changing and just not attach the doors on the sides so I have a place for the woofer and the consoles can breathe.

I'm ready for this shit like never before. I did think the SONY show was weak though... I was really hoping for a couple big bangers that I actually care about, but I know the games will come and I am excited for several multiplats and smaller games while I wait.

I've been waiting for this more than any other generation, so although it's a lot of money all at once I am also future proofing a bit as well. Either way, this should be awesome and I'll have plenty of room and an extra 2.1 port since I'll be using the digital output to connect my surround sound meaning I don't have to worry about switching HDMI ports back and forth between the PS5 and XSX. The TV also has an auto on feature when you start up the PS5... so that's a cool added feature and eliminates the need to use both remotes all the time.

At least the digital version of the PS5 is a next gen console. The Series S comes off like a slightly beefed up X1X so they could under cut Sony. Bit lame.

It doesn't they are selling it lower because now all purchases on that console are digital and none of the money goes to a game store

I think it was Moore's Law is Dead youtube page that priced out the components of each system and he said IIRC that the price of bulk drive like what is in the XSX and PS5 cost around $20-$25 for them to buy
