Just caught a segment of the local nightly news in which the PSN being hacked and shut down for several days was covered in a story. Things must be getting pretty serious to catch the attention of the news. I'm starting to believe this is a attack on the PSN. Sucks for PS3 owners. Hope they get you guys back online.

I'm not a big Sony guy at all. But I think it's BS that hackers are screwing PS3 owners (and I'm guessing this would affect the PSP PSN also) out of being able to play online. Hope whoever is doing this gets whats coming to them big. Or if it is just a hiccup in the system that they get it resolved quickly. I know I'd be pissed if XBL went down like that.

I don't follow. Are you saying they should give into the hackers demands, or that they should wake up and create better security solutions? Sorry, it's a little unclear what you mean.

They need to get there crap together, and fix the problem by getting some it people and better security solutions. this would be a nightmare if this hacker wanted to do more than just keep them down. If he can bring it down, then he can access everyone credits cards, adresses etc.

PSN is and always has been a joke in my mind. A true community requires a community effort. My $50 yearly ensures XBL receives hundreds of millions in annual funding thanks to all my fellow gamers and I can game on a superior service, not having to worry about a 1998-type problem like this

Oh ok. Sorry for misunderstanding. But you have a really good point. Has there been any word of the hackers tampering with any users information yet? Honestly I think Sony and other companies should start hiring the hackers to help them build better security solutions. I know it sounds crazy, but if I was designing a home alarm system, I would want to bring in some people who have been caught breaking into homes before to know where the biggest holes in the system are.

PSN is okay as a service. I prefer Live myself. But I do see Live having a harder time with being hacked like this. Not saying it's impossible, but MS has been in the networking business for a long time. So their going to have more experience with it then say Sony and Nintendo.

I see. Well this is a way to get to Sony. If it keeps happening and enough people get fed up with it, I could see this being a big blow to Sony financially, as a lot of gamers would probably move on to another system or PC for their online fix. I could see the PS3 Call of Duty audience especially moving on to the 360 or PC.

Wait, are you saying Microsoft has proven good at stopping malicious programs from messing with their programs? *Looks at every Windows operating system* Lol

It will be interseting to see how this pans out. The ps3 nearly tanked sony once.

PSN isn't being attacked, they just have bad servers and are blaming the attack.

It is just as good, MS would be having the same problems if they were targeted it's not like xbl has never been down
