[QUOTE="CajunShooter"]So now we get to have 100 of these threads because of those rumors :)

Oh im sorry, i thought this was System wars
I am just saying. These are the threads we get to look forward to.
People will continually post their own instead of putting it in an existing one.

Lol, having the same features and possibly more while its free isnt better? Hmm ok, btw how does it feel to pay 150 MS points for gamerpics?
how does it feel being lame enough to care what picture you have on a tacky gamerscore card?lol.

Why not just post what parts of PSN are better than XBL? He was right to post what he did, because you posted nothing to back up your statement except your opinion.
I heard a rumor that XBL will have a price cut and another rumor that when PSN is upgraded with more features you'll have to pay a fee for those features while there's a basic PSN service called PSN silver or something.

Why would anybody do that though, is the real question. :| PSN is not better than xbox live. Simply because if it were, nobody would pay for Live as they'd be getting nothing for their money. Simple. And i say that as 360 and PS3 owner.
PSN is great. There's nothing wrong with it at all. It's free, which is what makes it great. But it's silly to say it's BOTH. Yes it's FREE, and on top of that it's BETTER. How does that work?
how does it feel being lame enough to care what picture you have on a tacky gamerscore card?lol.

They give out random packs for free all the time, anyhow. I got my bungie day ones for free. And my gears pictures, and my fallout 3 pictures. :?

really does help us figure who really has an 360 doesn't it?
Too bad developers don't agree.maverickx04
Enjoy not having mods for UT3, then tell me how amazing live is.
So they're going to give everyone with a PS3 a free headset? Why haven't I heard of this yet?Relys
Same, I've never heard of this. BTW, love your sig:

Sorry, the underlined caught my eye and I lol'd.
Why is it everytime Sony announce a new firmware update with an added feature or two, threads pop up everywhere with playstation fanboys claiming its better than XBL, or that the gap is closing fast?
Seriously, its getting tiresome. As an owner and user of both services, i can say that PSN is nowhere near XBL. Sure, it gets the job done in that you can play online lag free mostly. But in comparison with XBL, it falls so short. Im sorry, but in-game XMB does NOT make it equal or better than XBL. There are so manyfeatures thatPSN is lacks in comparison.
You live users are so far up your own asses, you won't even listen to facts or reason. You do realize what you are paying for is essentially acheivements and a really neat store to spend more money in? Microsoft doesn't even have to host servers. All the servers, save for few games like frontlines, are hosted by players. That means you pay to host with your internet subscription which you already pay for. The servers which simply cannot be hosted by players, are usually privately owned or clan servers, again, not hosted by microsoft.
Not only that, but you are paying for features that have been or have become standards for PC gamers, and while you pay enough to own one less game every year(more if you pay monthly), we can buy an additional game every year. Everything points to live being a fat scam, and while the service they provide (however little that is) is quality, it is up to you to decide whether or not you want to throw money at it. Me? Let's just say it's a cold day in hell when i pay for live again, after my Gears PC experience.
If you people will take a minute of your time to look at something deserving of praise? Try steam. They host demos, content, updates, promote mods and a community feeling in general. In fact, steam community blows away any other friend system to date. They also added achievments recently. Want to know something else? It's free, and so, so sweet.

Basicly the bolded part is all I am gonna read... simply cuz I want an answer to this, if I don't pay for live, say I only have a Silver account, which IS free... I cannot get achievements and cannot download stuff from the marketplace?

This is a PSN vs XBL, console vs console thread, not a PC vs Console thread. And the bottomline is that XBL is really is the best console online gaming service out now.
And why do you care so much on what people want to spend their money on. Im pretty sure you spent a pretty penny upgrading your PC rig.

No. Obviously you havent played XBL, or you'd know that no-one is essentially just paying for achievements and market place. You'd also know that achievements and the maketplace is available to silver users, who last time i checked, dont pay a thing. Also, M$ do host servers, you think all that data like gamer profiles etc. just magically stores itself? Yes, most games are P2P, but the live service itself is still run and maintained by M$. Im not agreeing with the pricing at all, but i dont have a problem with it either, and you fail to realise that xbox owners unfortunately have no choice. Its either pay, or no online. Wandering away from the point though, this thread is about the services themselves. The fact you pay for XBL does not make PSN any better.
Oh, and this thread has absolutely nothing to do with PC and its services. Its to do with PSN and XBL, sure Steam is better, its free. Who cares, get over it. I dont think anyone is arguing.
No, I'm sorry Live> Steam. Steam's tech support is worse then annoying MS could come up with, if you contact steam it takes days or weeks to get a reply verses 24 hrs with MS. No, hes full of ****, the ONLY thing you have to pay for is to play online, nothing else, you can use the Marketplace and get achievements without paying.

I'd like to point out that good tech support usually means that things are supposed to go wrong. My half life CD key was screwed up, and so i sent them a few pictures of it and i got a new one later that day. From that point on i was able to play Half-life, team fortress, counter-strike, deathmatch classic, and a crapload of free and by that time amazing mods. This is when steam became my platform of choice
But i digress, i am not ashamed to admit that i wandered off the topic of PSN vs Live. It is universally accepted that live is better than PSN. What i was trying to say is that steam demonstartes a better service than live for free, and that i disgusts me that so many people put up with live and the cost when such a magnificent alternative is around.
To answer another question i saw somewhere, upgrading my pc that cost me 700$ 2 years ago, took all of around 500$, that included replacing motherboard, getting a new hard-drive, video card, RAM, and processor. Needless to say i won't be eating dog food, as some of us have jobs.

How is Steam an alternative though? Its not available on the Xbox, and im sure as hell not going to migrate to PC gaming due to a £40 a year fee im forced to pay. Also, what exactly can we do about it? M$ charge for the service, and thats that. Sure, we can maybe make a petition, get a few signitures. In the end though, youre paying very little each year for XBL, you have to think is it really worth the effort. And i agree, some of us do have jobs, so arguing over £40 a year is nothing. I probably loose that much in loose change anyway.
I think people got the wrong idea when reading the OP, what im basically saying is PSN is making the right moves and slowly catching up to Live, and soon it will catch up and MS will either have to add more distinctive features that benefit us or get rid of the fee (which i dont think will happen). Thats all ladies.-platy-
Yes, PSN is improving, but why do people assume Sony will continue to update PSN while M$ will sit on their behinds and do nothing? I honestly dont think M$ are going to let Sony catch up. M$ have a lot of new features scheduled for this autumn update, somehow i think Sony will forever be playing the catch-up game.

Lol, having the same features and possibly more while its free isnt better? Hmm ok, btw how does it feel to pay 150 MS points for gamerpics?
How does it feel to not have a choice?

This is exaclty where freedom falls, "What can we do about it, we cannot defy Microsoft, our masters.". If you will excuse me, i have to go weep for all gamers, and then cry myself to sleep.
Live charges you for downloading themes where in PSN you can get those for free.
also PS3 has an internet browser 8)
both services has their own advantage and disadvantages
...i just dont know how it'll be expressed once firmware 2.40 goes live..
SHuN_G0Ku
But Live has so many more themes available than PSN. Plus if you dont want to pay, you can just upload you're own. Nothing big.
Although yeah, the Internet browser is one of the only things PSN has over XBL.
