sony plans on blocking users who "abuse" psn "HOME"....

concerns:

1. they don't define "abuse"

2. you will have to move houses in order to reaccess sony's online if you're caught.

3. it doesn't define the length of blocking... one year...two years....forever?

4. if they only had the features of xbox live, you could mute any offensive gamers individually.

seems harsh to me....:(

darn

banning users who abuse home

and yeah there is going to be a terms of service agreement or something when you download it...since you have a ps3 of course youd know that you need to agree to those stuff for the online and the console.

Well this crap goes on in Second Life right now and it's a problem, so why should it recieve sanctuary here? Don't you NOT want little dunderheaded 12 year olds screaming and running around AND no child pornographers? Wouldn't that be something GOOD?

agreed.

but with psn home you don't have the option of muting individual silliness like with xbox live...

so, if you get enough complaints against you (founded or unfounded) you run the risk of being blocked....

not good.

Well thats the thing. The unfounded accusations are a problem, but generally if you don't piss someone off, you probably won't be bothered to be reported. But if this remains an issue in the future, I'm sure Sony would do something about it, since they have a lot riding on Home.

after inviting them to their home they will regret it when they find out its really a 50 year old guy pretending to be a chick, wakawaka.

i like how they feel strongly about users abusing home, but i think they are being really strict. hopefully they will give users a warning or two depending on the situation.

that remains to be seen...

sony has a history of letting problems fester until they're almost forced to do something...

by that time, many many ps3 will have blocked from PSN...

Well even if you are totally nice it is the internet there is always people who would do stuff like that.

It sounds like a good thing but, what would they see as abuse. Like how strict would it be.

I doubt they're just going to ban someone automatically if they get X complaints without investigating it first.

1. Yeah, I'm sure they'll never define abuse.

2. If you're banned, you're banned. You shouldn't be able to reconnect no matter what sign in you use. This is a good idea.

3. I'm sure they will never define the length of suspension.

4. If someone is such a disruption, why allow them to continue at all? Sounds dumb to me to let them go on to bother someone else.

Well, according to the website homepage, there are over 8.3 million registered users, of which, 1.6 million have played in the last 60 days. Thats almost 6.7 million people who registered to see what all the fuss was about, who then realised it was a rubbish 'game', logged out, and uninstalled the software.

wow~ lol honestly, whats the point of having home if u r not gonna have some fun? u have to admit that Playing arround with others in home will b fun, i guess sony doesnt want that. WoW has millions of people playing arround like that, and thats what makes the game 10 times more fun to play, lol is not like they are gonna rape u or something lol is just a virtual world.

If they bug u, jus walk away and go to your apartment lock the virtual door and call the virtual cops! lol

"Sony, please please ban this use, he is gettin into my virtual partment, i dont wanna die!!! noooooooo please"""

Someone posted a thread similar to this in the PS3 forum, and I ended up reading the entire article. From what I understand, Sony isn't interested in being a police force that has to constantly monitor the users in HOME. It's up to the individuals to decide what they feel is appropriate and inappropriate. Once a user has filed a complaint, then Sony will look into the matter and take the necessary steps to fix the problem. The article also states that HOME will have different areas for users to access; some areas, with more adult-oriented promotions and advertisements, will not be accessible to minors. I don't think that's such a bad idea. At least then you can have all the pornographers in one place.

i think they only means in extreme conditions like here doing stupid stuff gets you banned for a couple days or weeks but doing something really stupid(porn suicides) then you get a permanent ban

I'd hope so. Don't they have some sort of reputation thing like on XBL where your word is rated higher if people take the time to say this person is a good player or not?

I can see this turning out really bad. Take video games. A hobby with tons of fanboys and tons of idiots and put them into an online virtual world. Jack Thompson is gonna have a field day.

So you're talking about the rules for the beta. Beta rules are always strict. When the actual home comes out, it will have different rules.

Totally agree. Add hate speech and bigotry to that as well.
